April 28, 2016 - The Joaquin Rams varsity baseball team finished District 23 2A play with a 10-0 home field win, over the Tenaha Tigers, for the Rams Senior Night. Senior Cole Powdrill pitched the entire six inning contest and allowed only one hit, a single by Tiger Tyler Muckelroy, in the fourth inning. The Tigers were retired in 1-2-3 order in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth innings.

Ram Hunter Harper broke the ice for Joaquin in the bottom of the first inning with a double deep to left center field but this would prove to be the only offense for the frame. Cole Powdrill doubled to start the bottom of the second inning but the Rams were unable to score.

Justin Hooper led off the third inning for Joaquin with an infield hit. Brock Lawson soon followed Hooper with a double. Harper added his second hit of the game with an RBI single which scored Lawson for the game's first score. A Tanner Williams double later in the third frame gave JHS a 4-0 advantage. Williams later scored on a Tiger error and JHS led 5-0  at the end of the frame.

Brock Lawson started off the fourth inning with an infield hit. Later Kase Yates scored Lawson with a long double. Williams doubled later in the inning to score Yates, and Nate Belrose who had walked. The fourth stanza ended with Joaquin leading 8-0.

Klay Adkison reached base to start the bottom of the fifth frame by being hit by a pitch. He later scored on a fielder's choice, on a ground ball hit by Hooper. This gave JHS a 9-0 lead.

In the sixth inning Joaquin loaded the bases when  Belrose and Williams singled, and Adkison walked. Tray Wilkerson drove home the winning run with a single which gave the Rams the 10-0 leaded needed to end the game by 'Mercy-Rule.'

This was Tenahas' final game of the 2016 season. Joaquin will soon announce their bi-district opponent for next week.

Joaquin remains in second place in the conference with a 9-3 mark. The Bearcats remain unbeaten with an unblemished 12-0 league mark. They are 20-0-1 overall and have clinched the district title.

The Bearcats used hits by Ethan Harris, Zach Collins and John Bounds to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Joaquin threatened to score in the bottom half of the inning when Hunter Harper walked and Kase Yates singled but Bearcat pitcher, Braden Wise was able to strike out the next two Rams batters to end the threat.

BHS exploded for six hits in the top of the third inning and ballooned their lead to 10-0. They used an error, two hit batters and an RBI double by Collins to boost their advantage to 12-0 in the fourth inning. Cole Powdrill came in to pitch for the Rams and the JHS defense rallied to end the inning without any additional Bearcats scoring.

Brandt Harris scored Ethan Harris with a sacrifice grounder in the fifth frame to give Beckville a 13-0 lead.
