On March 12, 1933 - 92 years ago tonight - a man sat down at a microphone and spoke to 60 million friends. Over the next twelve years, President Franklin Roosevelt would make many of these radio broadcasts, known as “fireside chats”, and he would always begin with the words, “My friends . . .”

March 10, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, March 10.

We wake this morning to a world filled with division, to a culture characterized by the drawing of battle lines instead of the search for common ground. People with different views or backgrounds are too often reduced to negative stereotypes, turned into caricatures that can easily be derided and dismissed. It is a culture that threatens to consume us.

March 6, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, March 6.

Bonham, Bowie, Crockett, Seguin, Travis - sounds like a list from a Texas map. But these aren’t just cities and counties in the Lone Star State, they’re also men, men who lost their lives on March 6, 1836, in a Catholic mission called San Antonio de Valero, a mission that stood next to a grove of cottonwood trees. The Spanish word for cottonwood... is “alamo”.

March 4, 2025 - Good Morning!  It’s Tuesday, March 4.

Today’s a day known by several different names.  Some call it “Mardi Gras” or “Fat Tuesday”.  Others refer to it as “Shrove Tuesday” or “Pancake Day”.  What are all these names about?  Well, they’re all wrapped up in the fact that today is the last day before Lent, the six-week season in the religious calendar, the season that leads to Easter.

February 28, 2025 - Good Morning!  It’s Friday, February 28.

Don’t look now, but February is about to be in the rear-view mirror.  Is it just me, or is 2025 flying by like a freight train?  March is on the doorstep, and the first day of Spring is just three weeks away.  In March, as Mother Nature begins to really strut her stuff, we’ll have a series on our Creator and His beautiful creation.
