Good Morning!  It’s Thursday, February 27.

Well, it’s another “beautiful day in the neighborhood”.  And that phrase from the theme song of a famous children’s TV show, leads us to recall that, on this day in 2003, Mr. Rogers died.  His program on PBS ran for 33 years, from 1968 to 2001.  For a generation of children, he was a teacher, an encourager, a friend.  Mr. Rogers didn’t teach the alphabet, like Sesame Street - he taught about life.

February 26, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, February 26.

Yesterday was simply gorgeous here in Deep East Texas - 75 degrees, a picture-perfect blue sky with not a cloud n it. A “Chamber of Commerce” day, as the saying goes. That’s a day when the weather is so incredibly nice it causes people from all over the world to come and live in your town. Actually, that sounds like a premise for a horror movie. But, whatever the outcome, yesterday was just such a day.

The Bible teaches us in many different ways. There are verses that explain doctrine, there are poems of praise, there are characters who serve as examples. And then there are the stories. As children, these stories are our first gateway to understanding who God is, and these stories continue to guide us throughout our lives. One of the most dramatic Bible story is the Tower of Babel.

We wrestle with some big questions today - “Why did the chicken cross the road?”, “What came first, the chicken or the egg?”, and “Am I the eggs or the bacon?” The answers to the first two questions are “to get to the other side” and “the chicken”. But let’s take a little time to examine the third question, because it relates to commitment, the level of our commitment to God.

On February 17, 1963, the “GOAT” was born - Michael Jordan! Fans love to debate about who was the best player in the history of one sport or another, and those conversations can get pretty heated. But the idea that Jordan is the “Greatest of All Time” seems to be widely accepted by most basketball fans. I certainly count myself in that group.

Most of the words in my daily devotions are, obviously, my words.  I almost always include at least one scripture verse, but, even so, His words are usually in the minority.  I often consider whether that ratio should be reversed.  Well, at least for today, it is.  Here are some words from The Word.

Proverbs 11:25 - A generous person will prosper; they who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
