David’s Daily Devotion for July 15

July 15, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Friday, July 15.

On July 15, 1798, a great mystery was solved.  Napoleon's army had invaded Egypt and a soldier stumbled upon an engraved stone in the city of Rosetta.  This "Rosetta Stone" proved to be the key that would unlock the mystery of the ancient Egyptian language, a language first developed 4000 years before Bethlehem.

David's Daily Devotion for July 14

July 14, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, July 14.

I visited a group of our youth yesterday in Waco. They're doing a service project, putting a new roof on the home of an elderly widow. The temperature in Waco was 108 degrees, and it probably felt more like 120 up on that roof. Every evening our group gathers with teens from around Texas for worship and preaching. Considering their day job, a good sermon topic might be "the fires of hell"!

David's Daily Devotion for July 13

July 13, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, July 13.

Last Sunday, in our worship service, we sang the Kari Jobe song "The Blessing". Do you know it? It would be worth your time to google it today. A unique song, whose words are taken directly from Numbers 6:24. Words that were given by the Lord to Moses, for the priests to pray over the nation of Israel. These words -

"The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace."

David's Daily Devotion for July 12

July 12, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, July 12.

Do you think our world is getting better or getting worse? Most people, I'd guess, would say the latter. This opinion would certainly apply to the world of politics. The conflict, the rancor, the bad blood between the political parties definitely seems worse than ever before. Or is it?

David's Daily Devotion for July 11

July 11, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, July 11.

What’s the middle verse of the Bible? Well, that depends on which translation you use. Did you realize that there are variations in chapters and verses between the different versions of the Word? The King James Version (good enough for Jesus, good enough for me!) has 31,102 verses. Since this is an even number, there is no center verse. But the center pair of verses is Psalm 103:1-2.

David's Daily Devotion for July 9

July 9, 2022 - It's Saturday, July 9.

In early July, 1776, the Revolutionary War had been going on for over a year.  General George Washington was in New York City with the bulk of his army, about 20,000 men.  And in New York Harbor were hundreds of British ships carrying over 30,000 enemy soldiers, poised to lay siege to that crucial city.

David's Daily Devotion for July 8

July 8, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, July 8.

I love movies. I’ve always loved movies. These days we most often watch movies in our homes, but I love sitting in a darkened theater with a crowd of people, experiencing a film together. In 1975, I saw a movie with a crowd from my church, a religious film produced by the Billy Graham Association. It’s my favorite religious movie. It’s called “The Hiding Place”.
