January 10, 2017 - Senator Robert Nichols along with 15 additional Senators and Representatives of the Texas Legislature drafted a letter to Mr. John Colyandro who is the executive director of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute concerning the position paper the TCCRI published recently regarding the use of eminent domain by a private business.
The 'policy primer' the letter objected supported Texas Central Partners' (TCP) proposed Bullet Train, connecting Houston to Dallas, as an occasion to examine the law of eminent domain in Texas.
January 6, 2017 - The Texas Education Agency (TEA) today released their A-F work-in-progress report which was recently presented to the Texas Legislature.

December 29, 2016 - Tomorrow is the last day of the Christmas Holidays for many of the school districts in Shelby County with the students getting one extra day of vacation the following Monday. Most schools have staff developement or staff-in-service the day before the students return back to the classroom.

December 29, 2016 - The Boys Scouts Troop 119 handed out Christmas cards on Thursday, December 15, 2016 to residents in Shelby County nursing homes and assisted living facilities along with the employees at each facility.
December 23, 2016 - Fog and smoke contributed to two crashes Thursday morning, one of which was an emergency response vehicle arriving on scene of the first crash.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Jimmy Faulkner, a cluster of crashes occurred on US Hwy 96 Thursday, December 22, 2016. The first crash was at 5:45am in San Augustine County near the Shelby County line and the San Augustine Fire Department was dispatched to the scene.
