June 1, 2016 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Posse (SCSP) Queen Contest is slated for this Saturday, June 4, 2016 with 11 contestants vying for the title of Queen, Duchess, or Princess. The Queen Coronation will be the same day during opening ceremonies for dress rehearsal of the Drill Teams at the rodeo arena at 6pm.

May 24, 2016 - Polls are officially closed and election results are coming in for the May 24th Primary Run Off Election.
Two local races, District Judge for the 123rd Judical District and Constable Precinct No. 3, are being decided in the run off. Shelby County local Wayne Christian is vying against Gary Gates for a place on the November ballot for Railroad Commissioner.
May 16, 2016 - Early voting for the May 24, 2016 Primary Runoff Election runs Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20.
Photo identification is currently required for voting in person. Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at the Shelby County Clerk's office, 124 Austin, Street, Center, Texas 75935 between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm
May 18, 2016 - Suzanne Middlebrook has been a Physician Assistant (PA) in Shelby County for 25 years and is retiring May 27th. The public is invited to attend a reception in her honor on Tuesday, May 24th at 4:30pm at Cline Family Medicine.
May 13, 2016 - Danquien Horton, formerly of Shelby County, is a multiple time cancer survivor and has participated in the Shelby County Relay for Life for many years.
