September 11, 2024 - FEMA will be providing assistance for residents of Shelby County on Thursday, September 12 from 10am - 7pm; and Friday, September 13 from 8am - 5pm, at First Baptist Church Family Life Center, behind main building.

August 12, 2024 - Across Shelby County, the 2024-2025 school year is underway with five of the local schools having started. Tenaha and Timpson started their school year last week. For Center Christian Academy, Joaquin, and Shelbyville the new school year started today, August 12. Tomorrow, Center and Excelsior will start and finalize the back-to-school season.

July 6, 2024 - As of 12:55am, the roadway is back open to normal traffic.
July 5, 2024 - Law enforcement has Highway 7 East, just west of CR 3182 shutdown for a major crash which occurred around 9pm Friday, July 5, 2024.
The Center Fire Department is stationed at James Community stopping traffic. The Joaquin Fire Department is assisting at the scene and stopping traffic on the other side of the crash area, assisted by DeSoto Parish Fire District 1.
July 4, 2024 - The Texas State Historical Association offers ‘Texas Day by Day’ history summary with today, July 4th, highlighting the start of the convention for the annexation of the Republic of Texas to the United States.
