January 12, 2017 - A Shelby County grand jury for the January Term 2017 of the 273rd Judicial District Court met Tuesday, January 10, 2017 and indicted 39 cases.

Barnard Jackson was indicted for injury to a child, elderly or disabled individual, third degree felony. The indictment alleges, on February 9, 2016 Jackson caused bodily injury to an individual 14 years of age or younger, by striking the individual with a blunt object causing a laceration to that person's right hand.

January 7, 2017 - The Center City Council will meet in special session on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 5pm in the Council Room at City Hall. The following items are on the agenda for appropriate action:

I. Welcome Guests and Visitors.

II. Approval of Minutes of the Regular Meeting on November 21, 2016.

III. Discuss Consider and Action on the Following:

January 4, 2017 - State Highway 87 South at the intersection of CR 2124 was the scene of a two-vehicle collision involving a truck and a motorcycle which has resulted in serious injury to the rider of the motorcycle.

January 1, 2017 - A swearing-in ceremony for several of Shelby County's newly elected and re-elected officials was held at the Shelby County Sheriff's Department on January 1, 2017 at 12-midnight.
