May 6, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners' Court met May 6, 2020 in the Community Room of the courthouse and declared May as Elder Abuse Awareness month.
Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison read the proclamation aloud for the commissioners.
May 1, 2020 - The Tenaha City Council amended a previous ordinance establishing Tenaha as a "Sanctuary City fot the Unborn" and considered going back to in person meetings in the near future during their April 27, 2020 meeting held via phone conference.
Mark Lee Dickson and Rebecca Parms, both with Right for Life, were on the phone for the meeting to speak with the council about the suggestion of an amendment to the wording of an ordinance the council approved on September 23, 2019. This ordinance was to establish Tenaha as a "Sanctuary City for the Unborn."
April 29, 2020 - Center Fire Department fire personnel responded to a combination house and car fire Wedensday, April 29, 2020, at 2:25pm at the 200 block of CR 3129.
April 24, 2020 - As indicated by information released by Shelby County officials, a COVID-19 testing site has been established by Texas Dept. of State Health Services, Texas Military Department, Texas Division of Emergency Management, and Texas Medical Task Force.
April 22, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners met Wednesday, April 22, 2020, via Zoom and during the meeting County Judge Allison Harbison informed that military doctors will soon be in the area to offer a drive through testing site in Center.
“We had 69 confirmed positive, we had six people that actually have gone through the process and have recovered and got off of the list. We still have 10 that may be in the hospital, and we've had no deaths reported," said Judge Harbison.
