July 15, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners' Court approved two county resignations during their meeting Wednesday, July 15, 2020, and made three appointments for different purposes.

Melba Rodgers was just elected to the office of Justice of the Peace (JP) for Precinct 3 and due to multiple requests of the current office holder Margie Anderson for the commissioners to accept her resignation, and the availability of someone to fill her position, the commissioners decided to fulfill her request. 

July 10, 2020 - State Highway 87 South at the intersection of CR 2135 was the scene of a two-vehicle head-on collision Thursday, July 9, 2020.

July 8, 2020 - The Shelby County Commissioners spoke with Bobby Pigg, Shelby County Appraiser, on the Shelby County Appraisal District 2021 budget during their July 1, 2020 meeting.

"We have been tasked by the legislature and the governor to not go up on taxes and they've made it pretty plain that they don't intend for us to go up on taxes," said County Judge Allison Harbison. "Therefore, this year we are holding steady, hopefully we'll be able to keep the same budget we had last year, so we aren't anticipating any raises for anyone this year."

June 28, 2020 - The Shelby County Jail is getting a $108,500 revamp on its door locks following a bad grade from the state.
