June 3, 2019 - In 1951 I hitch-hiked to Springfield, Missouri (with three dollars in my pocket) and enrolled in the newly-established Baptist Bible College. The school was kind enough to help a bunch of “pore” preachers get a start. Springfield had more colleges than any city of its size in the U.S.

April 29, 2019 - When I was in the eighth grade, the Curtis Publishing Company came to our school to get the students to sell popular magazines for them: Saturday Evening Post, Reader’s Digest, etc.. And we could win special prizes if we sold enough subscriptions.
I knocked at Mrs. Munnerlyn’s door and said, “You don’t want to buy any magazines, do you?” “Come in, Henry,” she smiled. “I need to talk to you.”
April 8, 2019 - Pam and I moved to San Augustine, Texas 27 years ago where I became Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. We lived in the church parsonage for a couple of years and then bought the old Dr. Hicks house located two blocks from the church sanctuary.
April 2, 2019 - Last week, Doug Fincher received an email from his old-time friend, Jack Fontaine. In 1939, they entered the First Grade in Center and graduated in 1950. They shared many memories together and are the best of friends. Jack is now living in Frankston, Texas.
