Tornado Watch Includes Shelby County

December 26, 2024 - Tornado Watch 715 is in effect until 7pm CST December 26, 2024, for the following locations.

Texas counties included are: Anderson, Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Cherokee, Colorado Falls, Fort Bend, Freestone, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Limestone, Madison, Milam, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Panola, Polk, Robertson, Rusk,  Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton.

Weather Service Issues Special Statement for Strong Thunderstorms

August 29, 2024 - The National Weather Service, Shreveport, LA issued a special weather statement at 6:16pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Strong thunderstorms will impact western Webster, northwestern De Soto, northwestern Red River, Caddo, west central Bienville and Bossier parishes, eastern Marion, eastern Harrison, Panola, and north central Shelby counties through 7:15pm.

At 6:16 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles west of Ringgold to near Center. Movement was north at 20 mph.

Portions of Shelby County Under Flood Advisory

July 26, 2024 - Flood Advisory Now In Effect Until 9:15am: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

Where: Portions of northwest Louisiana, including the following parish, southwestern De Soto and northeast Texas, including the following counties, southeastern Panola and central Shelby.

When: Until 9:15am CDT.

Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Additional Details: At 7:13am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain.

Special Weather Statement Concerning Strong Thunderstorm in Shelby County

July 7, 2024 - A strong thunderstorm will impact south central Panola and northwestern Shelby counties through 6pm CDT.

At 5:17pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southeast of Timpson, or 8 miles west of Center, moving north at 15 mph.

Hazard: Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Source: Radar indicated.

Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include: Center, Tenaha, Timpson, Gary City, Dotson, Stockman, and Woods.
