October 31, 2016 - The Panola College men’s basketball team begins their 2016-17 campaign when they tip off the season against Louisiana Christian this upcoming Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM in Arthur Johnson Gymnasium at Panola College. Second year Head Coach Grant McMillan is ready to build off their record breaking season last year. McMillan led the Ponies to the most wins in school history posting 24 victories and guided them to their third ever conference championship game appearance. Last year’s squad featured four division one signees.
October 28, 2016 - The Panola College Concert and Jazz Bands performed in concert at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 27 in the Q.M. Martin Auditorium. The bands are under the direction of Dwaine Hubbard, instrumental music professor and band director.
October 28, 2016 - The M.P. Baker Library will host Edible and medicinal plants of East Texas with speaker Dr. Timothy Fotinos on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in the Frances B. Ross Ballroom at Panola College. Before grocery stores and pharmacies, people collected native plants to supplement their diet and cure what ailed them. In recent years, many people have become more conscientious of their diets and aware of eating foods in their purest form.
October 25, 2016 - It was Ladies Night at the John D. Windham Civic Center in Center on Thursday, Oct. 20, when more than 350 friends of Panola College played bingo for a chance to win designer purses. The fundraising event, hosted by the Panola College Foundation, raised more than $30,200 to support scholarships, faculty grants and other college projects.
October 25, 2016 - The Panola College Workforce and Continuing Education division is offering two ServSafe for Food Handlers classes. On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. the class will be offered on the Carthage Campus. On Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. the class will be offered on the Marshall campus. The cost of the class is $30.00 and preregistration is required.
October 24, 2016 - The Panola College rodeo team traveled to Pittsburg, TX., this weekend for the 3rd southern region college rodeo hosted by NETXCC.
The women’s team started the action off right by winning the championship on the ladies side. The victory helped to climb up in points and try to secure a spot in the top two teams in the region. The ladies are now number three in the region, just 150 points behind second place. Our goal is not just to qualify, but to win the region. In the NIRA, the top two teams from each region move on the finals in Casper, WY.
October 24, 2016 - In their last match of Region XIV North play, the Panola College Fillies took down Trinity Valley in 5 sets: 20-25, 25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 15-2.
October 19, 2016 - Basketball season is right around the corner for Panola College and the NJCAA. The Panola Ponies are coming off the first 24 win season in the school history under first year head coach Grant McMillan. Last year Coach McMillan took a program that had finished last in the Region XIV Athletic Conference for three years in a row to a second place finish in the Region XIV Athletic Conference Tournament.
October 19, 2016 - The Panola College Fillies dominated Saturday sweeping both Mountain View (25-12, 25-16, 25-15) and Southwestern Christian College (25-5, 25-5, 25-13).
Against Mountain View, freshman middle blocker Saadia Sahadeo had a career high of 8 kills and 4 total blocks. Sophomore middle Rachel Henderson and freshman right side Deedy Rouege added 5 kills apiece. Freshman setter Kinly Carter dished out 16 assists and freshman defensive specialist Camie Copeland picked up 12 digs.
October 17, 2016 - The Panola College Choral Department will present a fall concert at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, in the Q.M. Martin Auditorium. Please join the Panola Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Pipers for an evening of beautiful choral music.
