June 1, 2016 - May has been an extremely busy month at the museum.  We had visitors from Vista Academy of Jasper, 3rd graders from Deweyville and Hemphill, and we had students from Burkeville.

Mr. James Dean will return in the middle of June to complete the installation of the simulator.  It will be a one-of-a kind simulator and we are very grateful to Mr. Dean for his donation to our museum.

March 16, 2016 - The space shuttle, officially called the Space Transportation System (STS), began its flight career with Columbia’s lift off from Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 12, 1981. This first mission verified the combined performance of the orbiter vehicle its twin solid rocket boosters, giant external fuel tank and three space shuttle main engines.  The orbiter is the only part of the shuttle “stack” that makes it into orbit.

February 24, 2016 - We had some very special guest tour the museum this week.  The First Baptist Church of Hemphill pre-school students stop by for a tour of the museum.  They enjoyed playing the games in the classroom and getting to see the shuttle replica.  Each student received an 8x10 poster of the seven astronauts that was on Mission STS-107, a JSC Roundup magazine and pictures to color.
