October 25, 2017 - The First United Methodist Church in Center invites the community to its first ever "Evening With The Bells," a hand bell concert of both sacred and popular music. The concert will be held at the FUMC Fellowship Hall on Sunday night October 29 at 6pm.
June 30, 2017 - Tennis fans are encouraged to come this Friday to the Leon Dykes Tennis Center for the inaugural Center High School Summer Tennis Tournament Friday, June 30. Center is the newest stop for the Northeast Texas Tennis circuit which also includes stops in Longview, Tyler, Kilgore, Mesquite, and Forney. There are some very good players who will be in town for the tournament.
April 14, 2017 - As part of the First Methodist Church Concert Series, the CHS Theatre department will perform Anne Frank and Me, a multi-generational play for all ages, at First United Methodist Church Sunday April 23 which is nationally recognized as Holocaust Remembrance Day. The public is invited and admission is free.
The Theatre Department performed the play earlier as a dinner theatre at Center High School, but they were excited to be invited by the church to perform it as part of a special occasion.
March 13, 2017 - The Center High School One Act Play, under the direction of Chris Watlington, is presenting a home show of "Dark Road" on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the High School auditorium at 6:30pm.
March 29, 2016 - CHS UIL and Theatre announce the Spring Coffee House Performances tonight, March 29th at 6:30 on the stage of the CHS Auditorium. The Coffee House is an intimate evening of fine art that features poetry/prose, acoustic music, and theatre, all in coffee house style. The prose/poetry are CHS UIL district competitors sharpening their skills for contest. It's bare-bones art without all the frills.
January 28, 2016 - Thursday night Feb 4 CHS will host the 47th Annual Powderpuff Classic at Roughrider Stadium. The annual flag football game featuring the Purple Senior & Freshmen Gridiron Gladiators v the Gold Junior & Sophomore Team will cost $3 for adults and $2 for students. Proceeds benefit the Center senior class.
