December 20, 2019 - This Saturday is the last day for children to have their photo taken with Santa in Joaquin!
December 9, 2019 - The Santa House in Joaquin will be open the next two Saturday afternoons for pictures with Santa and Mrs. Clause from 2pm until 4pm.
That means Saturday, December 14th and 21st.
They would love to see the children and hear Christmas wishes!
December 9, 2019 - Joaquin held its annual Christmas Festival this past Saturday and it was absolutely top notch.
Mr. A. J. Procell led our parade as Grand Marshal. He was present at the peace treaty signing at Pearl Harbor and our parade was on Pearl Harbor Day. He spoke to our crowd and got our day started perfectly.
October11, 2019 - East Texas Chopper Guys invites all to their Halloween Run on October25-27 at Boles Field in the Sabine National Forest on Texas FM 2694, six and a half miles from Shelbyville.
Set up camp on Friday, October25 and enjoy home grown music at the amphitheater Friday night. On Saturday, October26, the first bike out is at 9am for the Halloween Run.
May 30, 2019 - The annual meeting of the Joaquin Community Cemetery will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 beginning at 11am at First Baptist Church in Joaquin. We will have a business meeting, slide show of old photos, presentation of “A Second Visit to our Past” by Cynthia Webster and a covered dish pot luck lunch.
April 24, 2019 - After a week delay because of bad weather, the Spring Fling in Joaquin finally took place Saturday, April 20. It was the first Spring Fling and it turned out so nice that we must acknowledge the help we received on several fronts.
April 12, 2019 - There will be an Easter Sunrise Service at Joaquin First United Methodist Church beginning at 7:00 a.m. April 21. Breakfast will be served afterward in Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.
March 28, 2019 - The annual Mike Wood Scholarship Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 6th.
Mike was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Joaquin, mayor of Joaquin, a biology teacher at Joaquin ISD for years, a fire chief at Joaquin Volunteer Fire Dept. as well as a valued member of the Masonic Lodge for years. He was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as a friend of most everyone around Joaquin and neighboring communities.
June 7, 2018 - The Joaquin Community Cemetery Homecoming will be held on Saturday, June 9th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. There will be a presentation of the impact the river and the railroad had on early Joaquin and door prizes this year will be t-shirts designed and paid for by Committee members. We will have a business meeting and singing. Lunch will be picnic style in the Fellowship Hall. Please join us as we honor those buried in the cemetery.
November 1, 2017 - The First Methodist Church in Joaquin as well as the City of Joaquin would like to express our thanks to all the great kids and their parents who helped make our 2nd annual Fall Festival a huge success.
