August 12, 2021 - The rapid increase in reported Covid-19 cases is very alarming to me. With two variants of the coronavirus surging, I urge residents to be cautious, if you are running a fever, feel sick, or have been exposed to the virus please seek medical assistance and isolate yourself.
It is very important not to forget what we learned last year when the pandemic first came to Shelby County. Below is a reminder of the protocol that has helped control the virus in the past.
July 22, 2021 - The Officials of Shelby County, Shelby County Commissioners’ Court, and Shelby County Employees offer their sincere condolences, thoughts, and prayers to former County Judge Rick L. Campbell’s family and friends. Shelby County has lost a favored son.
March 15, 2021 - Shelby County needs your assistance. We have partnered with Connected Nation and the Temple Foundation to gather important information about the need for Broadband services in Shelby County. Responding to this survey will help the entire population of Shelby County.
I encourage you and your family members to take this online survey. There are 9 different surveys that you can complete, please complete each survey that applies to you. For example, I did the home, government, business, and agriculture surveys.
There are still appointments left for the COVID vaccination clinic being held today at the Windham Civic Center. Military medical personnel are conducting the clinic.

February 18, 2021 - Shelby County Offices will be closed Friday,February 19, 2021 due to road conditions, power outages, and water outages. We plan on opening for business Monday,February 22, 2021.

February 17, 2021 - Shelby County Offices will be closed on Thursday, February 18th due to the current weather crisis.
February 15, 2021 - County Misdemeanor Criminal Virtual Court for Tuesday, February 16th is cancelled also. If you have a court date for this date, all scheduled hearings are cancelled. You will get a letter from the Shelby County Attorney with your rescheduled hearing date and time.
January 11, 2021 - The County Offices will open at 10am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
January 10, 2021 - According to Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison, county offices will be closed Monday due to hazardous driving conditions. Everyone please be safe if you have to be out in the weather.
December 31, 2020 - For seven consecutive days, the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients in the East Texas region has exceeded 15% of the total capacity.
On Monday, December 21, 2020, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reported that the 19 counties that comprise the Piney Woods Trauma Service Area (TSA-G) are now in an “area with high hospitalization,” as defined by Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32.
September 1, 2020 - Shelby County have received resources from US Rep. Louie Gohmert and the Texas Department of Emergency Management. The ice, water, and MRE’s have been delivered to the Huxley Volunteer Fire Department Building at 11862 FM 2694, Shelbyville. We urge anyone who is out of power or has a need for these supplies to come by this location on Tuesday, September 1, to receive the supplies while they last. They will be available between the hours of 10am and 3pm tomorrow.
