April 20, 2023 — Spring is the peak time for bird migration through Texas, but the bright lights of cities and towns can confuse birds as they fly to their northern breeding grounds. Texans are encouraged to help our winged friends on their journey by turning “Lights Out” at night across the state from April 22 through May 12.

TPW Commission Approves Changes to Freshwater Fishing Regulations for 2023-24

March 28, 2023 - The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopted multiple changes to the freshwater fishing regulations for the upcoming 2023–24 season at the March 23 meeting.

The freshwater fishing regulation changes focus on simplifying and clarifying fishing-related rules on waters within public parks, particularly Community Fishing Lakes (CFLs). Additional changes removed unnecessary exceptions and clarified water-body boundaries.

TPWD Seeks Input on Texas Migratory Game Bird Regulation Proposals for 2023–24

March 2, 2023 – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) 2023–24 proposed migratory game bird regulations mirror last year’s season lengths, timing and daily bag limits. No changes were required due to federal regulatory modifications for season length or daily bag limits.
