September 24, 2024 – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) asks Texans to invite their friends and family into the outdoors to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHF) on Saturday, September 28.

This annual holiday, celebrated on the fourth Saturday of September, recognizes hunters and anglers for their contributions to wildlife and conservation.

September 10, 2024 - Teal hunting season opens September 14, 2024 and with wet conditions prevailing in many areas of Texas, hunters will have ample opportunities to harvest birds.

August 28, 2024 — A rainy spring and early summer led to a good nesting season through most of the state and near record high populations of mourning and white-wing doves across large portions of Texas. Hunters could encounter significantly increased dove populations in the field when the 2024 season opens September 1.

August 13, 2024 – Fall is drawing near and that means the beginning of new hunting and fishing seasons. Prior to venturing to the water or hitting the field, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds hunters and anglers to purchase their new licenses for the 2024-25 season.

Current-year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except the Year-from-Purchase All-Water Fishing Package) expire at the end of August. Licenses for the 2024-25 season go on sale August 15.

May 17, 2024 – As temperatures across the state start to heat up, many Texans will begin taking refuge in the water. May is National Water Safety Month and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds boaters to follow some simple yet effective safety precautions to prevent accidents and save lives.
