TX AG’s Office Announces Former RadioShack Will Be Compensating Consumers for Gift Cards

December 3, 2015 AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General’s Office today announced that holders of gift cards purchased from the former retailer RadioShack can now file claims seeking to recover the unused balance on their cards. The claims process is part of a settlement agreement previously approved in the U.S. Bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Delaware and was led by the State of Texas and supported by 23 other states and the District of Columbia.

Texas Attorney General’s Office Obtains Judgment

November 24, 2015 - AUSTIN – The Texas Attorney General’s Office today filed an agreed final judgment and permanent injunction that resolves the state’s legal action against 1SolTech Inc. and its three principals, Sandy Fardi, Hossein “Zak” Fardi and Ali Enrique Razavi. Under the agreed judgment, filed in Travis County District court, the defendants are ordered to cease making misrepresentations on the geographical origin and certifications of their solar panels.

Redistricting Attorneys’ Fees Award Unconstitutional Under Shelby County v. Holder

October 23, 2015 - The Texas Attorney General’s Office today petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court in State of Texas v. Wendy Davis, et al. to review and hold unconstitutional an award of attorneys’ fees to parties who challenged Texas’s redistricting maps. The lower courts awarded these parties fees based on the Voting Rights Act’s unconstitutional preclearance framework, which the Supreme Court nullified in 2013 in Shelby County v. Holder.  
 

Texas, Gulf States and Federal Government Announce Settlement with BP over Deepwater Horizon Spill

October 6, 2015 - Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that Texas, together with four states and the federal government, had reached a settlement with BP that fully resolves all remaining government claims against the company resulting from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster. Texas’ share of today’s announced settlement totals more than $800 million in money and restoration projects. Combined with money from previous settlements, Texas will ultimately receive more than $1 billion to help restore Texas’s Gulf resources.
