February 27, 2018 - We would would like to express our sincere gratitude to our family, friends and neighbors for all of the love and support we have been shown during the devastation and total loss of our home and vehicles. The generosity of our community is overwhelming and humbling and has helped us tremendously. 

We could never say thank you enough. We are so blessed to call Shelby County our home with such amazing people that come together in times of need. We have seen it time after time but it never ceases to amaze us. 

February 26, 2018 - UT Press has released a book highlighting a pivotal point in its history, a glimpse into the lives of the first Black undergraduate students to enroll at the university.

February 22, 2018 - Shelby County Museum has received various pictures of individuals who were from the town of Joaquin, Texas. (cira: 1900/1940). If you see a name that you recognize, and would like to have them, you may come by the Museum in Center, Texas weekdays between 1 & 4 pm.

February 21, 2018 Huntsville, Texas - William Cummings from Tenaha, Texas was named to the President's Honor Roll at Sam Houston State University. 

The students listed on the President's Honor Roll are undergraduates who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours. The university would like to recognize Cummings for earning the honor for the Fall 2017 semester.

February 21, 2018 - Texas Woman's University congratulates Konner Windham, a 2017 Center High School graduate, for being named to the Fall 2017 semester's Chancellor's List. This honor signifies that a student achieved a 4.0 grade point average. TWU is proud to recognize Windham for this outstanding achievement and wish her continued success
