September 8, 2017 - The Parker family would like to thank everyone for the prayers and food, all the beautiful things that were sent. Jeff and I have so many wonderful friends and family and his funeral was a great testimony to his life. I would also like to thank Watson and Sons Funeral home for their help.
September 7, 2017 - The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting September 19, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Colleen Doggett. She will speak to us about the Early Century Ferry Landings on the Sabine River. Everyone is invited to attend.

September 5, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is still accepting donations for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Donations will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, September 8.
The donations will be carried to the Vidor area Saturday, September 9. Items needed included cleaning supplies - bleach, clorox wipes, garbage bags, paper towels, brooms, fans, non-perishable food items, feminine products, diapers, baby wipes, juice boxes, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.
September 4, 2017 - CMS Students ask for community donations to help supply a Houston-area school following hurricane Harvey.
CMS Junior Chamber of Commerce and Junior BETA Club have joined forces to adopt a school affected by the storm. Goodson Middle School, with a population of over 1200, is located in Cypress, Texas. CMS is planning to collect donations for the students to help in making the beginning of the school year a bit easier.
