August 31, 2017 - In an effort to assist those impacted by the flooding due to Hurricane Harvey, we are collecting cleaning supplies, non-perishable food items, and personal care items such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, etc. Anyone wishing to contribute is asked to drop the items off at Sabine State Bank, 205 Hurst Street.
August 21, 2017 Center, Texas - August 31st, 2010 marked the official end to US Combat Operations in Iraq. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will insure the patriotism and sacrifices of this generation to include US Army Specialist Larry E. Polley, Jr. of Center, Texas who was killed in action are never forgotten by the American people.
August 30, 2017 - Local efforts to collect items for Hurricane Harvey relief has been overwhelming and the trailer is half filled with supplies. Hillcrest Baptist Church has been a staging location for sorting of supplies coming in from all over Shelby County.
August 30, 2017 - Panola College announces evening classes at Shelby College Center and Shelby Regional Training Center will be canceled tonight with both sites closing at 5 pm today. We also stress that students should not put their life in jeopardy driving to ANY Panola College campus.
If water is covering the road, turn around and do not drive through it.

Items needed are cases of water, non-perishable food items, personal care items, clothing for small children to adults – this includes undergarments and socks, tarps, items to make small repairs, dog and cat food, animal crates and garbage bags.
