Airtankers Prepositioned For Wildfire Response For Elevated Conditions

December 14, 2021 — Texas A&M Forest Service is opening the Abilene Airtanker Base at the Abilene Regional Airport to assist with potential wildfire activity this week.

The two large airtankers arriving in state on Tuesday will be a regional resource, supporting suppression efforts in Oklahoma and Texas as requested. Additionally, one air attack platform and three single engine air tankers are currently prepositioned in Childress for response.

Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. issues recall for Tire Belt Separation

December 9, 2021 - Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. (Sailun) is recalling certain Sailun, RoadX, Blacklion, Blackhawk, and Ironhead brand tires, sizes ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 with DOT codes 2020 through 4120. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation. Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Sailun will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December 2021. Owners may contact Sailun customer service at 1-844-281-9696.

Lady Beetles Beginning to Overwinter Inside

December 7, 2021 - I saw one earlier this week. Then a few more as of this writing. The Asian lady beetles are making their annual move into protected areas to spend the winter. And your home is a great place for them to go.

Lady beetles are insects that are absolutely beneficial. But they are not invading your home to cause problems, only to stay warm. The lady beetle does not chew or bore holes in walls nor do they eat carpet or any food in the pantry.
