Ag/Mechanics Auction Tonight to Feature FFA Students Work

October 9, 2021 - There will be an Ag/Mechanics auction this evening on the Center square featuring items built by FFA students from around the county. All of the projects were built by Center FFS; Center Building Trade Students; Joaquin FFA; Timpson FFA; and Shelbyville FFA.

The projects, if for sale will have a silent bid sheet on them. The highest silent bid sheet will go to a live auction under the big tent during the poultry festival tonight at 5:30pm.

Please support these students and their efforts.

Benefit Bake Sale, Raffle for Halstead Family

October 7, 2021 - A bake sale and raffle for the Halstead Family is Saturday, October 9! More donation have come in over the last couple of days.

Layla Barnhart Killen shared on Facebook about the raffle, "This has been amazing I'm so grateful for all of you that has made this way more than we ever thought it would..."

The bake sale starts Saturday morning, October 9 at 8am. For those who have signed up to bring, you can start bringing your bake goods Friday afternoon if that would be easier on you.

October 7, 2021 - One hundred and eighty-six years ago this week, the Texas Revolution began at Gonzales. On October 2, 1835 fighting broke out at Gonzales between Mexican soldiers and Texas militiamen. When the Mexican military commander in Texas received word that the American colonists refused to surrender a small cannon that had been gifted to the settlement in 1831 as a defense against Indians, he dispatched a small contingent to retrieve it. The struggle feature the iconic "Come and Take It" flag and ended in a Mexican retreat.
