Gretchen Riley Receives Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Public Service in Forestry

January 15, 2021 - Texas A&M Forest Service’s Gretchen Riley received the 2020 Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Public Service in Forestry today.

The Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence is the highest employee award given by Texas A&M AgriLife, and Riley received this award for her diverse and extraordinary contributions to the Texas A&M Forest Service and to the state and people of Texas.

N.E.W. Water System Rescinds Boil Water Notice for Jan. 10

The water on N.E.W. WSC no longer requires boiling.

January 15, 2021 - On January 10, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the N.E.W. Water Supply, #2030034, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

There is an interesting verse in the New Testament book of Hebrews, written by the Apostle Paul, that touches on the subject of death. It reads as follows, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."

City of Joaquin Proposing Land Improvements for Boat Ramp

January 14, 2021 - The City of Joaquin is proposing land improvements for boat ramp and surrounding property improvements on the Sabine River. Portions of the property are located within the 100 year floodplain and construction is proposed within the floodplain. The preliminary conceptual plan is available for public review and comment at the Joaquin City Hall, 124 Preston Street, Joaquin, Texas 75954. Texas Announces COVID-19 Vaccination Hub Providers For Week of January 11th

Januaray 12, 2021 - The Texas Department of State Health Services has instructed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ship first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 234 providers this week. That includes 28 hub providers that will focus on large community vaccination efforts as Texas vaccinates health care workers, people 65 and older and those with medical conditions that put them at greater risk of hospitalization and death from COVID-19.
