"Law and Order" by Neal Murphy

September 16, 2018 - Way back when I was in high school I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer. My dad, Cecil, was good friends with James Doherty, the County Attorney in San Augustine at the time, and I had several conversations with him about law school. He encouraged me to go to law school but warned me about the tremendous amount of research and reading required of law students. So, I enrolled in Baylor University in 1956 as a “pre-law” student. 

Tenaha VFD Holds Fundraiser Offering Savage Axis

September 14, 2018 - The Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD) is holding a fundraiser to be finalized November 2, 2018.

Being offered is a Savage Axis XP, 22" stainless steel barrel, 6.5 creedmoor, comes with scope, $600 value.

Tickets are $5 or 5 for $20. Drawing will be held on November 2, 2018 during Halftime of the Tenaha and Joaquin game.

Need not be present to win. Winner is subject to background check.

Tickets can be acquired from any TVFD Fireman.

Landscaping in the Fall

September 12, 2018 - We’ve had some days where high temperatures did not reach 90. We have also received some much needed rain that put a smile on many peoples face. I can’t wait for fall to get here.

And as we’ll talk about for the home landscaper, I want to emphasize the point that fall is a great time to get big items planted.

Prescribed Fire Online Tools Now Available Through Texas A&M Forest Service

September 11, 2018 College Station, Texas – Fire, field and forestry professionals now have additional tools, resources and online checklists to safely and effectively conduct prescribed burns in Texas.

Texas A&M Forest Service is launching an online toolkit with comprehensive step-by-step information to assist burn managers in planning and conducting a prescribed burn. The toolkit includes forms, templates, links and guidance on safe burning conditions.
