Forest Service Waives Fees for National Public Lands Day

September 11, 2018 - Many recreation areas and other venues in the National Forest will be free to the public on Saturday, September 22 in celebration of National Public Lands Day. 

“National Public Lands Day is a great opportunity for families to visit our national forests, experience the beginnings of fall, and perhaps be motivated to join in with other volunteers and help us restore America’s precious natural resources,” said National Forests and Grasslands in Texas Forest Supervisor Eddie Taylor.

AG Paxton’s Office Launches New Crime Victims’ Compensation Portal

September 11, 2018 Austin – Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office today launched a new portal within the agency’s official website that enables victims and claimants to apply online for Crime Victims’ Compensation and Emergency Medical Care Compensation for sexual assault exams.

The Crime Victims’ Compensation portal makes it easier for crime victims, claimants and their advocates to submit applications, upload crime-related bills, and follow each step of the claim and bill review process with near real-time updates.

Texas Members to Host Southern Garden History Society Program in Historic Nacogdoches

September 10, 2018 - The Southern Garden History Society, along with SFA Gardens, Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc, and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present 300 Years of Plants on the Move in Texas in historic Nacogdoches, Texas Friday and Saturday, October 5 and 6, 2018 to celebrate Texas’ Tricentennial in gardening with tours, lectures, a book signing, and a reception. As a special treat, attendees will be able to attend the famous annual fall plant sale at the SFA Gardens’ Pineywoods Native Plant Center.
