SWEPCO Continues to Educate Customers on Imposter Utility Scams

November 13, 2017 – Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is proud to stand with its fellow electric, water, and natural gas utilities and trade associations in support of Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS). UUAS is a consortium of more than 100 U.S. and Canadian utilities and will observe the second annual Utility Scam Awareness Day, Wednesday, November 15, as part of a week-long advocacy and awareness campaign, November 13 – 17.

Great American Smokeout November 16th

November 13, 2017 - Help promote the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Great American Smokeout on November 16th with the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas (ADAC). The Great American Smokeout is a campaign to encourage smokers to stop tobacco use, and it is also utilized to discourage teens from starting the use of tobacco. According to the Texas School Survey, about 4 out of 5 students 7th to 12th grade view tobacco use as dangerous. Join us in educating people on the effects tobacco has on our bodies and promote wellness.

TAGHS to Hear About Fiddlin' Jim Pate at November Meeting

November 13, 2017 - An ad appeared in the January 17, 1930 edition of The Timpson Times announcing that Bussey's Drug Store had received the new Fiddlin' Jim Pate record. The ad went on to say that “Jim Pate is an old-time fiddler, lives in the Arcadia Community, just south of Timpson.”
