Forest Service Waives Day-Use Fees for Veterans Day

November 1, 2017 - Many recreation areas and other venues in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas will be free to the public on Nov. 11-12 in honor of Veterans Day.

“We honor our veterans each Veterans Day and every other day of the year,” said U.S. Forest Service Chief Tony Tooke. “We hope that this time will serve as a way for our veterans and other visitors to find our national forests and grasslands as a year-round respite, a place where they can take time out for themselves.”

Choice Public Water System Boil Water Notice Rescinded

November 8, 2017 - On November 2, 2017, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Choice public water system, 2100005 to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Farm Service Agency Reminds Producers of Acreage Reporting Deadline

November 7, 2017 Nacogdoches - In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers are encouraged to visit the Nacogdoches USDA Service Center to file an accurate crop certification report by the applicable deadline. Reporting deadlines vary by crop.

The deadline to report pasture and hay acreage for 2018 is November 15, 2017. Timely reporting of your grass acreages will prevent you from incurring late file fees.

The following exceptions apply to the above acreage reporting date:

Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library Beneficiary of $5,000 Grant

November 6, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the Tocker Foundation of Austin, Texas. These funds will support the Graphic Advancements for All Ages program

This grant from the Tocker Foundation will  help us, through the addition of graphic novels to our library shelves, to reach reluctant readers and people with learning disabilities (as well as those who simply see the world a little differently than the majority) and make our library, as well as our community, a better place.
