Boil Water Notice for San Augustine Rural Water System Rescinded

June 13, 2017 - The water on San Augustine Rural WSC no longer requires boiling.

On May 26, May 28 and June 6, 2017, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the San Augustine Rural public water system, #2030007, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Property Owners Can Protest Property Appraisal Values

June 13, 2017 - Property owners who disagree with the Shelby County Appraisal District’s appraisal of their property for local taxes or for any other action that adversely affects them may protest their property value to the appraisal district’s Appraisal Review Board (ARB).

A property owner must file a written notice of protest before Jun 14th or within 30 days after the appraisal district mails the taxpayer a notice of appraised value, whichever is later. The ARB will begin hearing taxpayer protests on July 6th.

June 13, 2017 - We were verging on double digits this morning, which is our measure of a crowd at Paxton Methodist. Ms. Fannie had a great lesson from the Old Testament—Judges. Gideon receives his call from God but in fine human form, has doubts and questions. He wonders why such bad things have happened to his people as they are constantly being raided and overrun by more powerful neighbors. But God assures him that he will make it possible for Gideon to lead the people to a great victory.

June 12, 2017 - When my brothers and I were growing up in Center, Texas, we fished in any and every body of water that had fish in them.  And we ate what we caught. But there was one fish that we only reluctantly ate.  It was the grennel (A.K.A. Grindle, Dogfish, Grinnel, Cypress Trout, Mud Fish). Many of the old timers around Center called them “Cypress Bass”.

Tyson Foods Inc. Recalls Ready-To-Eat Breaded Chicken Products

June 9, 2017 –  Tyson Foods Inc., a New Holland, Pa. establishment, is recalling approximately 2,485,374 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) breaded chicken products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products could contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
