USDA Seeks Applications for Grants to Support the Development of Rural Community Facilities

June 5, 2017 Temple – Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced that USDA is seeking applications for technical assistance and training grants in the Community Facilities program.

June 5, 2017 Temple – Acting Deputy Undersecretary for Rural Development Roger Glendenning announced that USDA is providing more than a quarter billion dollars in loans for rural electric infrastructure improvements.
“These loans will help improve the delivery of reliable electricity, and will help ensure that rural areas nationwide can prosper economically and benefit from today’s technologies to meet tomorrow’s needs,” Glendenning said.

Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District Natural Resources/Agriculture Scholarship Award

June 2, 2017 - This year the Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District will be awarding a $1,000 scholar-ship. The scholarship recipient will receive $500 for the fall 2017 semester and another $500 for the spring 2018 semester. The Shelby SWCD Scholarship is open to college students who are working toward a degree in the natural resources or agricultural field. June 2, 2017 - (Flyer) - The second week in June is Hunger Awareness Week in Shelby County. There are numerous individuals and families in our county that struggle with this hunger. We live in a caring community and we need to work together to ensure that no one goes hungry.

June 2, 2017 - The 26th Annual Dwight Preston Football Camp is set for June 3, 2017 at Tenaha Tiger Stadium starting at 7:30am and running until 4pm.

Library Remains Closed Through June 3

June 1, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library will be closed through Saturday, June 3rd. Due to damage to our electrical pole, we have been without power since last weekend.

Our electrician says he hopes to have the power back on by next Tuesday. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has been to all our patrons, but appreciate your patience.

June 1, 2017 - The 85th Legislative Session has come to an end. I believe it was a successful 140 days, and we accomplished a lot for the people of Texas.
