May 25, 2017 AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today signed Senate Bill 7, relating to improper relationships between educators and students and the reporting of educator misconduct. Commissioner of Education Mike Morath issued the following statement:
May 25, 2017 Washington — Summer is a time for family vacations, backyard barbeques and plenty of outdoor activities with food as the centerpiece. But before those steaks and burgers go on the grill, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) wants to remind consumers to keep their family and themselves safe from foodborne illness by using a food thermometer to ensure meat and poultry is cooked to the correct internal temperature.

May 25, 2017 Lufkin – A pre-construction meeting held Wednesday in the Lufkin Area Office signaled the beginning of a new construction project on US 59 North in Angelina County.
May 26, 2017 Marshall - Texas State Technical College will host three Registration Rally events this summer for prospective students interested in enrolling for the fall semester.
The events will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 22, July 20; and Aug. 3, in the Administration Building on East End Boulevard South in Marshall.
The events are part of an effort to make the registration process as easy as possible for incoming students.
May 24, 2017 Austin – Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that Texas will receive more than $2.2 million in a $33 million, 43-state settlement with pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson. The settlement resolves allegations that a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson sold various over-the-counter drugs to consumers, even though some manufacturing facilities did not comply with federal standards.
