Texas Transportation Commission Approves New Projects in Lufkin District

May 31, 2017 Lufkin – The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved more than $422.1 million in new construction projects statewide, including $2.1 million for the nine-county Lufkin District.

A multi-county project was approved for $831,249 that was designed to enhance safety and will include texturing the shoulders and centerlines of several roadways. Stripe-A-Zone, Inc., Grand Prairie, will serve as contractor. Locations in this project include:

Library Closed Due to Power Outage

May 30, 2017 - The Fannie Brown Booth Library is closed today due our electrical pole being knocked down.

With the electric companies being so busy with storm damage around the area, we do not know when our power will be restored.

Nichols Named President Pro Tempore After Successful 85th Legislative Session

May 29, 2017 - Austin -- On Monday, the 85th Legislative Session came to a close, marking another successful session for the people of Texas. Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville), was also elected President Pro Tempore, by a unanimous vote from the members of the Texas Senate.

"Working together, I believe this Legislature has passed integral legislation to benefit the entire State of Texas," said Senator Robert Nichols. "Serving the people of Senate District 3 has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I look forward to continuing to work for them."
