May 10, 2015 - Comparison Ratings that Help Consumers Compare and Choose Among Hospitals
Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the first time introduced star ratings on Hospital Compare, the agency’s public information website, to make it easier for consumers to choose a hospital and understand the quality of care they deliver. Today’s announcement builds on a larger effort across HHS to build a health care system that delivers better care, spends health care dollars more wisely, and results in healthier people.
As spring gives way to summer, TxDOT maintenance and construction crews are gearing up for some of the busiest workdays of the year.
New projects are being planned and sealcoating applications will begin that will resurface roadways throughout the district. Motorists should be prepared for delays in construction and maintenance areas and remain alert to slow-moving, stopped traffic or lane closures as they travel the nine-county Lufkin District.

May 6, 2015 - The City of Center held a celebration in recognition of the John D. Windham Civic Center 5th Anniversary. During the five years the facility has been open it has been host to a wide variety of events of which many are annual and others more unique.
May 5, 2015 - The University of Texas at Tyler held spring 2015 commencement ceremonies May 1 and 2, President Rodney H. Mabry announced. Nine hundred eighty nine degree candidates were recognized in the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.

College of Arts and Sciences – 6 p.m. May 1

April 30, 2015 - Hello, my name is Brad Hinton. I would like for you to know that I am a candidate for the Shelbyville ISD School Board.
I have lived in Shelbyville, Texas my entire life. My wife, Dena and I own and operate a broiler farm and cattle operation on the land I grew up on, west of the school on FM 417. My daughter, Harley and son, Clayton help us. Harley attends Shelbyville Middle School and our son Clayton attends Center Christian Academy.
April 30, 2015 - My name is Etola Jones and I am seeking reelection for school board trustee at Shelbyville ISD. I have served on the board for the last 6 years and served as the vice-president for 5 years. I have a great commitment to our students and employees. I believe that we have the best students, the best teachers and the best facilities in the State of Texas.
April 30, 2015 - My name is Pat Gray and I am running for Mayor of Joaquin. I grew up in Joaquin and moved away for a short period of time but I’ve been back in Joaquin for the past 26 years. I have served on the city council for 5 years. During my time on the council we have annexed more of the Haslam strip, built a new water system and in the process of getting another sewer system. Joaquin is continuing to grow and I am glad I have been a part of some of this growth. I have done my best to serve the citizens of Joaquin.
