Timpson VFD Fights Fourth of July Forest Fire

July 4, 2022 - The Timpson Volunteer Fire Department responded to a forest fire today at 1:45pm off FM 1645.

After four hours battling the 12-14 acre blaze, and with help from the Forestry Service, the fire was extinguished.

The Timpson Volunteer Fire Department thanks the Forestry Service for their help, and the neighbors in the area that helped pitch in to fight the fire.

Timpson Volunteer Fire Department continues to accept applications for new members seeking to join the department and help your community.

Joaquin VFD Reports of 5 Calls for Week of June 27

July 4, 2022 - Over the week of June 27th to July 3rd the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department responded to 5 calls. Here’s a overview of what transpired.

Starting with Tuesday, June 28th, the JVFD EMRs responded to Cooper Street to a sick call to check out a patient.

July 3, 2022 - State Highway 87 south of Timpson (Horton Hill) near CR 4009 was the scene of a single-vehicle crash July 2, 2022, involving a tow truck.

Timpson Frontier Days Parade Cancelled

July 2, 2022 - Due to inclement weather, Timpson's Frontier Day Parade has been cancelled for 10 am Sat morning July 2nd. We are gathering information at this time and may possibly have the parade Monday July 4 - if rescheduled, we will notify you of time.

If the weather clears by 6pm as predicted, we will proceed with the remainder of today's festivities.

Jackson, Paxton Water System Rescinds Boil Water Notice

July 1, 2022 - On June 25, 2022, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Paxton public water system, 2100012 and 2100031 to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

North 2nd, Prairie Streets Scene of Two-Vehicle Crash in Timpson

June 30, 2022 - The intersection of North 2nd and Prairie Streets was the scene of a two-vehicle crash June 29, 2022, which resulted in the medical transport of one individual involved.

Shelby County Museum Website Down for Maintenance

June 29, 2022 - The Shelby County Historical Society Museum and Library regrets to say their website (http://www.shelbycountytexashistory.net/) is currently down due to server maintenance. The website should be back up and operational tomorrow, June 30, 2022. The museum apologizes for any inconvenience; however, server maintenance is a necessary inconvenience at times.

Sheriff's Department Receives Donation for Training

June 29, 2022 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our thanks to Steel Building Supply. Steel Building Supply recently made a monetary donation to the office that will be used to further provide training for our employees.

Burn Ban Continued by Commissioners

June 29, 2022 - The Shelby County Commissioners met in an emergency session to consider continuing the burn ban put in place by Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison on Monday, June 27, 2022.

"Within seven days you have to ratify it to keep in in effect, or it goes out in seven days," said Judge Harbison.

She commented there is rain the forecast in the weekend, but she doesn't feel like the area will get enough rain to merit lifting the ban.
