Shelby County Officials Reports 178 COVID-19 Cases, 43 Recoveries

May 18, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 3pm Friday, May 15, 2020 TxDSHS has reported to them 176 cumulative cases of COVID-19, 43 recoveries, and 5 deaths. Over the weekend an additional 2 cases were report; however, they are not included in the statistics below.

Shelbyville Water Supply Boil Water Notice Rescinded

May 13, 2020 - On May 8, 2020, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required the Shelbyville Water System #2100014 to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from our public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Governor Abbott's Open Texas Website Guides Businesses Through Reopening

May 6, 2020 - Texas Governor Gregg Abbott's Strike Force to open Texas has setup a web page with dates businesses can open along with a link to a checklist for the business to reopen.

Businesses listed to open this Friday, May 8th include: Barber Shops, Cosmetology/Hair Salons, Nail Salons and Shops, and Tanning Salons. The checklists also give guidance to customers of all of these opening businesses.

Consumer Alert: AG Paxton Warns of Scammers Impersonating Government Entities

May 12, 2020 – Attorney General Ken Paxton today warned Texans that scammers have been spotted posing as state agencies to solicit money from hardworking consumers. There are variations of this scam, such as local law enforcement contacting you with a warrant, agencies asking for donations, back taxes or fines, or asking for your personal information to either confirm innocence or receive a payment. Government agencies do not email or call individuals with financial solicitations.

Shelby County Judge Reports 154 Cumulative Cases of COVID-19

May 11, 2020 - Shelby County Office of Emergency Management was notified by Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) of new cases bring the total of cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 154. DSHS also reported 32 cases recovered. Only 2 deaths have been reported to Shelby County local officials by DSHS.

The number of cumulative cases include all confirmed cases, recovered cases, and deaths.

FM 139, CR 2536 Scene of Fatal Crash Incident

May 9, 2020 - FM 139 near CR 2536 was the scene of a crash incident that resulted in the death of a Center man late Friday, May 8, 2020.

According to information released from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash last night on FM 139, about three tenths of a mile north of County Road 2536. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 11:15pm, a 2003 Chevrolet SUV driven by Joseph Williams was traveling south on FM 139.
