May 4, 2018 - Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that Melony Anderson was found safe and unharmed in Batesville, MS on May 3, 2018 and three subjects were taken into custody. Elizabeth Sanford, 36, Laurel Smith, 22, and Shannon Leonard, 27, all of Center, were arrested by the Batesville Police Department (BPD) on warrants out of Shelby County for Kidnapping (F-3)
May 3, 2018 - (Update May 3, 9:39pm): The Shelby County Sheriff's Department reports Anderson was located on Thursday afternoon, and she is safe. Additonal information is pending at this time.
May 1, 2018 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was contacted this afternoon in regards to a video circulating on Facebook. The video shows a very young child being beaten and abused by a lady in a home that was reported to be in Tenaha.
The video has been investigated by the FBI who determined the video originated in Britain. We pray for the safety and protection of this child.

April 29, 2018 - Center Police Officers were dispatched to two motorcycle crash incidents Tuesday, April 24, 2018, which resulted in their operators needing medical attention.
April 27, 2018 - Officials with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, Sabine National Forest, have advised a prescribed burn located in Compartments 29/34/35, 2197 acres (Block C & D ) in Shelby County.
April 24, 2018 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 41 indictments including a Tenaha Teacher for improper relationship between educator and student Thursday, April 19, 2018. The grand jury was impaneled for the January 2018 term of the 273rd Judicial District Court.

Judge LeAnn Rafferty, presiding judge of the 123rd Judicial District Court, issued warrants for each defendant's arrest and further, forfeited each defendant's bond.
