January 9, 2018 - Another subject has been arrested in connection with the recent burglary that occurred December 11-12, 2017 at a property on Highway 59 North in Tenaha.
January 9, 2018 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 25 indictments involving 18 individuals on Thursday, January 4, 2018. The grand jury was impaneled for the January 2018 term of the 273rd Judicial District Court.
Nickloas Denetri Rushing was indicted for evading arrest, third degree felony. The indictment alleges, on April 28, 2017, Rushing used a vehicle to flee from Christopher Knowlton, a person the defendant knew was a peace officer who was attempting to lawfully arrest or detain Rushing.
Update from TxDPS - At approximately 3:50 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two vehicle crash on SH 87 involving a Shelbyville ISD school bus.

January 4, 2018 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting accident on County Road 3373 in Joaquin on December 27, 2017.
Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that a juvenile and a family member had been in the area hunting. After the individual finished hunting, the juvenile was attempting to unload his gun when the instrument accidentally discharged striking Francisco Gomez, 22 of Georgia, in the chest.
Gomez was pronounced deceased at 12:16 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Margie Anderson.
