January 24, 2018 - Boil Water Notice for S. Augustine Rural Water System Rescinded
On January 19, 2018, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the San Augustine Rural Public Water System, #2030002, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
January 23, 2018 - County Road 2571 south of Shelbyville was the scene of two crashes which occurred, oddly enough, at the same location and at the same time on Janaury 14, 2018 one mile west of FM 139.
January 23, 2018 - The Shelby County Extension Office parking lot will get lighting now that the Shelby County Commissioners approved its installation during their meeting held Monday, January 22, 2018.
Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison informed the commissioners, with all of the use the new County Extension office location is getting, a lot of events occur at night and there isn't sufficient lighting. This puts students traveling in the dark between buildings, especially during the winter time of year, and that could prove dangerous.

January 22, 2018 - With influenza continuing to be widespread throughout Texas, the Texas Department of State Health Services reminds people to take precautions to avoid getting and spreading the disease. The state health commissioner, Dr. John Hellerstedt, filmed two short messages encouraging everyone 6 months old and older to get vaccinated and stressing the importance of good hygiene.

January 17, 2018 - After conferring with our Board President Aaron Roland, Vice President Ronnie Samford, and various TISD administration members and staff, we have made the decision to close operations for the remainder of the week due to excessive absenteeism due to the recent outbreak of the flu. Upon return to classes today, 20% of the student population and 15% of staff are absent and many of those have been confirmed with Type A flu or flu-like symptoms and/or fever.
