February 28, 2018 - Update - 6:46pm: Loop 500 in Shelby County is now open to traffic following an earlier HazMat spill. All lanes have been cleared and are open. Drive safely.

February 28, 2018 - ALERT: SL 500 from US 96 to SH 7 East in Shelby County is closed after a hazardous spill. Also, cleanup is ongoing on US 96 and SH 7 East at the intersections near the loop. Cleanup could take most of the day. Avoid the area and prepare for delays as crews clear these areas.

Boil Water Notice for San Augustine Rural Water System Rescinded

February 27, 2018 - On February 21, 2018, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the San Augustine Rural Public Water System, #2030007, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

DWI Arrest After Crash on Nacogdoches Street

February 26, 2018 - A crash on Nacogdoches Street in Center ended in the arrest of one driver for driving while intoxicated February 13, 2018.

County Road 2450 Closed for Repairs

February 26, 2018 - County Road 2450 is reopen for traffic.

February 25, 2018 - County Road 2450, the Smyrna Church road, in the Huxley area is closed for repairs. Commissioner Jimmy Lout, precinct 2, has a crew working to repair the roadway and hopes to have it fixed tomorrow, February 26th. Use caution when traveling roadway and be on the look out for washed out culverts and roadways. Rains are forecast to continue through Wednesday with sunshine for only three days before the rains return.

Two Arrested in Connection to Car Burglaries

February 23, 2018 - Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports the arrest of two suspects in connection to a string of car burglaries that occurred in multiple counties, including Shelby County, in early February.

New Projects Approved for Lufkin District Include Shelby, San Augustine Counties

February 23, 2018 - The Texas Transportation Commission on Thursday approved more than $263.6 million in statewide construction projects, with more than $2.2 million approved for the Lufkin District.

SC Grand Jury Indicts Dearing for Murder; 32 Other Individuals in Other Cases

February 23, 2018 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 45 indictments involving 33 individuals on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. The grand jury was impaneled for the January 2018 term of the 273rd Judicial District Court.

Two included indictments were for Charles Daniel Dearing, Jr. who is accused of murdering Brandi Wright and for possession of a large quantity of marijuana.

Flags Ordered to Half Staff By President Honoring Graham

February 22, 2018 - The President of the United States has issued a proclamation ordering the flag of the United States to be displayed at half-staff on March 2, 2018 until sunset on the day of Billy Graham's interment.

His funeral is scheduled for Friday, March 2, 2018.
