May 14, 2018 - Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 is Peace Officer Memorial Day. The President has issued a proclamation ordering the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff from sunup to sunset on this day.
All flags flying with the US Flag should also be lowered. If you have an outside flag that can’t be lowered respect for the day can be shown by tying a black cord or ribbon to the top.
May 9, 2018 - Three area constables recently working together were able to locate and arrest a Joaquin woman being sought on Shelby County Sheriff's Department warrants.
According to Roy Cheatwood, Shelby County Constable Precinct 3, he received information on the whereabouts of Brittany Barber, 30. Constable Cheatwood went to the location with Jamie Hagler, Shelby County Constable Precinct 2, who arrested Barber while being assisted by Zach Warr, Constable Precinct 1. Shelby County Sheriff's Department Deputy Michael Griffin also assisted at the scene.
May 8, 2018 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated this afternoon a three-vehicle crash on SH 94 about one mile west of Apple Springs. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at about 2:45 p.m., a 1997 Ford passenger car was traveling east on SH 94.
The Ford reportedly crossed over the center of the roadway and struck a 2018 Toyota passenger car that was traveling west. Moments after the initial crash the Ford was then struck by an eastbound 2002 Volvo truck-tractor semi-trailer. The truck-tractor then overturned in the roadway.
May 8, 2018 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated Monday morning, May 7, 2018 a two vehicle fatality crash at the intersection of SH 21 and Loop 34.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 7:20 a.m., a 1994 Nissan passenger car was traveling east on SH 21. A 2014 GMC SUV was traveling west on SH 21 and crossed the eastbound lane and struck the Nissan head-on. Initial reports indicate the GMC was attempting to travel onto Loop 34.
May 8, 2018 - The jury that has been summoned for Monday, May 14, 2018 for the 273rd District Court Honorable Charles R. Mitchell presiding has been cancelled due to the scheduled cases being resolved or passed.
Anyone receiving a summons for that day is released from jury service until they receive a future summons.

May 7, 2018 - Brittany Barber was arrested Friday, May 4, 2018 in Joaquin. Constable Pct. 3, Roy Cheatwood received information on Barber’s whereabouts and was able to locate her. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Michael Griffin assisted in the arrest.
