March 9, 2016 - I would want to urge everyone who lives in low lying areas, especially, the lake areas and near the Sabine River to be cautious and if possible evacuate until the rain and flooding ends. We are not calling for a mandatory evacuation at this time but a voluntary one.
March 9, 2016 - Due to continued flooding, we are releasing today at 1pm. Roads are being monitored and bus drivers are being briefed on safety. We are concerned that conditions may worsen throughout the day. Parents may also pick up students from school at their convenience.
March 9, 2016 - Alert!!!! Parents and stakeholders of TISD. Another system of powerful storms is headed our way. At the moment, our roads are passable. However, another round of heavy rain could change those conditions quickly. Therefore, we are releasing school today at 12:30.
March 9, 2016 - Due to the weather, Shelby County Outreach Ministries is closing the Senior Nutrition sites in Center and San Augustine for Wednesday and Thursday, March 9 and 10th. This includes all senior service programs.
The Meals on Wheels program, Helping Hands Boutique and SCOM will be closed as well.
March 9, 2016 - Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative is reporting scattered outages throughout the eight county service area of: San Augustine, Shelby, Sabine, Nacogdoches, Newton, Jasper, Panola and Rusk Counties.
Crews are currently working to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.

March 9, 2016 - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Shelby County and surrounding areas. Areas included are northeastern San Augustine County and Southeastern Shelby County until 9am CST.
At 8:18am CST a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 5 miles southwest of San Augustine, or 21 miles south of Center, moving northeast at 35mph.
Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.
