Steve McQueen, 64, of Mt. Enterprise, TX, passed away on Tuesday, January 15th in Houston's Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be Saturday, February 9th at 11:00 am, at Bonita First United Methodist Church, Central Heights, TX where he was a member. The Reverend Rick Anderson and Reverend Charles Danheim will be officiating. Visitation will follow in the Christian Life Center.

Steve was born June 30th, 1954 in Corpus Christi, TX to H.C. and Billie McQueen. As a child, he lived in California, Louisiana and Florida, moving around while his Dad was in the Navy, before settling in East Texas. He developed a love of music at an early age that would later turn into a career. Steve graduated from Joaquin High School and went on to Panola Jr. College. He would later further his education at ETBU with a degree in education in 1990.

Steve met his future wife, Becky, while at Panola Junior College in 1974 and they were married on July 17, 1976. They had one daughter, Stephenie, and last year celebrated 42 years of marriage. Steve's love of music took him on-air working for Center's KDET & Tyler's KROZ. He would later grace the airwaves again in Atlanta, TX at KPYN working the morning show, broadcasting local football games, hosting the swap shop, and entertaining families on Christmas Eve with his reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas." He had a love of life and hobbies that included cooking, photography, and hunting. Steve also had a heart for helping others.

Steve began a new career as a teacher and coach in 1991. Though he worked at several school districts, his coaching family and students in Kountze, TX always resonated with him. Steve had the gift of gab. He worked very hard to instill real life situations, scenarios and kindness with his students and did this by telling stories and making learning fun. When he wasn't teaching or coaching, you could find him entertaining the crowd by playing a good song, participating in a school skit or, simply, clowning around. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend that loved to chat about his radio days, the latest football scores, share his memories or show off his daughter's catering events. He will forever be an educator, entertainer and storyteller. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents A.E. and Evie Wagstaff and step brother Jody Hooper.

Steve is survived by:

Loving wife Becky of Mt. Enterprise, TX

Marilyn Martin Taylor, 84, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 26, 2019 in Houston. She was born on October 19, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Morgan and Ella Gertrude (Newhouse) Morgan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, San Augustine.

Marilyn was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. In her early 20’s, she was employed by Westinghouse, but she always knew her heart belonged in Texas. In the mid to late 1950’s, she met Donald Martin, a Texan, and a serviceman for the Air Force. They married, moved South and raised two children, Joel and Jennifer. She wore many hats as a wife, mother and woman. Marilyn was active in the ladies Softball League and a a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She also had a touch of tom boy in her and was an avid outdoorswoman. She loved weekend camping and fishing trips in East Texas, crabbing off jetties, hunting, riding four-wheelers and more. Marilyn was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare seafood dishes and southern foods.

Marilyn worked as an executive secretary and as the attendance clerk at Nederland High School. In the early 1980’s, she met and married Tommy Taylor. They built their own beautiful 2-story log cabin out of the timber from the acreage, began raising limousine cattle were growers for Tyson. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and each year would harvest a large bounty that would be shared with neighbors and family.

Marilyn was witty, funny, detail oriented and strong willed. You wouldn’t want to try to fool her as she had a keen eye for nonsense, but she was fair in all of her dealings with others. She was infamous for her lead-foot as well. Marilyn made friends easily and was a God-fearing woman. Her selfless and compassionate nature was evident in how she served those around her. One of the most admirable things about Marilyn was her optimism and perseverance. She was a proven fighter, having survived three different cancers over her lifetime until the fourth bout. Even in her final days, she remained positive and proudly wore a t-shirt that stated, “Don’t Count Me Out.” The legacy of love, life and determination that she leaves behind will carry on in the lives of so many who treasured her time on this earth.
