Winifred “Windy” Whitlock, 88, of Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Center, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. Karen Jones officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Center.
Mr. Whitlock was born January 26, 1929, in the Neuville Community of Shelby County, to Richard Calvin Whitlock and Mary Dee Bailey Whitlock. He was a member of both the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star for over sixty-five years. He was of the Christian faith.

George E. LaBoyteaux went home to be with The Lord on July 9, 2017. He passed away at his home in Sulphur Springs, Texas, surrounded by family who loved him.
He was born on June 19, 1939, in New Castle, Indiana, to Mr. William and Myrtle LaBoyteaux. He was an ordained Minister and a well-loved member of The Lighthouse Church in Sulphur Springs.
Services to be held on July 13 with visitation from 12 noon until 1:30 and services following in the Chapel at Watson and Sons Funeral Home 1554 Hwy 7 East. Services officiated by Bro. Neal Cochran and Bro. Rudy Rodriguez.
He is survived by: his wife, Joyce Ray LaBoyteaux, daughters Deborah and husband Wayne Posey, Charlotte and husband Kevin Parent, son, William LaBoyteaux and wife Carrie, step children, Wanda and husband James, Terrie and husband Ronnie, Eddie and wife Olga, Michael and wife Carrie, his brother Bill and wife Wanda LaBoyteaux, sisters Terrie, Dixie, Linda and Marie, numerous grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Louisa Ingram Jenkins, 91, of Tenaha, TX, passed away on Friday afternoon, July 7, 2017, at her home in Tenaha. She was born on Aug. 21, 1925, in San Augustine County to the late James Ingram and Rosia Dupree. Mrs. Jenkins attended San Augustine Schools growing up and later attended college. She married Clifford F. Jenkins on July 8, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2006. Mrs. Jenkins worked in the San Francisco Bay area as an occupational and private nurse for many years. She moved back to Tenaha over 40 years ago from Pacifica, CA. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church in Timpson. She was preceded in death by daughters, Legatha Demings and Mary Moore; sons, Clifford, Alvin, and Danny Jenkins; and sister, Rosie Jane Blount.
Survivors include sons, Rochester Jenkins and wife Gladys Jo of Tenaha, Calvin Jenkins and wife Dorenia of Freemont, CA, and Willis Grace; daughters, Rosie Drake and husband Roy of Tenaha, Vivian LaBlanc and husband Wayne of Murrieta, CA, and Barbara Sanchez of Tenaha; sister Mary Carter of Princeton, TX; numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Smith Chapel Baptist Church, 919 CR 4707, Timpson, TX with Rev. Mario Osby officiating. Interment will follow in the Jenkins Memorial Cemetery (Bulison Ranch) 152 CR 4644, Tenaha, TX. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage.
Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Jenkins’ grandsons and flower girls will be her granddaughters.

James K. Greer, 66, of Center, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in Houston.

Mr. Greer was born November 16, 1950, in Nacogdoches, to Thomas Bill Greer and Bettye Smith Greer. Mr. Greer was a 1969 graduate of Diboll High School. He received both a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Education degree from Texas A&M University. After 26 years of serving as a County Extension Agent for Agriculture & 4-H, he retired from the Texas Cooperative Extension Service in 2003. He continued his passion for serving youth and the agriculture community in Shelby County after retirement. He became a popular local radio personality with his daily program on KDET in Center called Agriculture This Morning. He served as deacon at First Baptist Church in Center, taught the 7th and 8th grade boys Sunday School class and was a devoted supporter of the youth programs at the church for over 20 years, leading many youth to Christ through those years.
An avid Aggie, he and his family attended Texas A&M Football games every season for 40 years. He officiated high school football for 20 years with the East Texas Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials. In recent years, he served as Life Coach for the Center ISD athletic program. He was elected to serve on the Center ISD School Board in 2014 and served as President since elected. He served as a board member for both the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and the Shelby County Farm Bureau for many years. He often judged poultry shows across East Texas and was very involved with the East Texas Poultry Festival show and sale. As a 3rd generation cattleman, he operated Greer Charolais with his family, marketing Charolais bulls to commercial cattlemen and traveling throughout Texas and the nation showing Charolais cattle. In all of his endeavors, he demonstrated his love of God, family, youth and cattle.

Johnnie Mildred Lout Hutto, of Waskom, Texas passed away on July 3, 2017 in Carthage, Texas. She was born on May 24, 1929 in Center, Texas to Lee Lout and Leona Fleming Lout. Funeral services for Mrs. Hutto will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Blakely officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park. What is a “Legacy”? We all will leave a legacy when we leave this earth, but Johnnie Hutto will leave many legacies because she was a servant of God and a strong pastor’s wife in a supporting role, never wavering from the task or path that God had ordained her to follow. She will leave her footprints on so many hearts, but her most prominent legacy will be her love for Southern Gospel Music, which she shared to the masses. Johnnie learned to play the piano as a little girl sitting on her daddy’s lap while he worked the pedals for her and showed her the keys. She became self-taught as she rose to the top of the peak of pianists in Southern Gospel music. Quite simply, she was one of the best to sit at the ivories. There are many singers out there today because Johnnie practiced with them for hours to help them blend their voices and music.
Johnnie Hutto answered the call of God to be a servant. She served to God’s approval and always put others before herself. She has left that frail human body in exchange for a Heavenly Body. She has no pain. She is already gathering all the gospel singers who have gone on to Heaven, and she is assembling a Heavenly Choir that will soon be standing at the Portals of Glory singing the most beautiful songs ever heard as God calls His Children to come Home. We will see Johnnie Hutto at the piano directing the choir as we enter into the Pearly Gates.

Hubbard Sam “Bo” Porter, 77, of Broaddus, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in Broaddus.

Mr. Porter was born May 1, 1940, in Center, to Hubbard Sam Porter Sr. and Roxie Jackson Porter. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty years, doing two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired as head maintenance from Texas A & M and also worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. Above all, his proudest accomplishment was being a husband, dad, pawpaw and olpaw. He loved everyone and was dearly loved.

James Lowell Bogue, 84, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 in Timpson, Texas. He was born on June 14, 1933 in Timpson, Texas to Joseph Alexander and Ollie (Stilley) Bogue. Funeral services for Mr. Bogue will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Timpson, Texas with Bro. William Dee Daniel and Bro. Richard Jones officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas.
James was born and raised in Timpson, Texas. He graduated from Timpson High School in 1950 at the age of 16. Mr. Bogue pursued his love for football and attended Panola College on a football scholarship before transferring to Stephen F. Austin State University to pursue his football career along with obtaining a Master’s in Education. James married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Young, in 1951. He and Barbara had three wonderful children. James spent over 40 years in Education serving as a Coach, Principal, and Superintendent at multiple school districts, including, Woodsboro, Central Heights, Garrison, and Timpson before retiring.
After retirement, he continued to serve many Districts around the surrounding areas. Mr. Bogue enjoyed all outdoor activities. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominoes, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. James loved the Lord and loved people, especially his family. He was a member of the Lions Club, served on the Timpson Genealogical Library, and served as the City of Timpson Judge for many years. James continued to serve the Lord, his church, and his community until his final days. James was a member of First Baptist Church Timpson, a deacon, and held numerous positions throughout the years in his church.
James was surrounded by a family filled with love.

Syble Loretta Moore Jernigan has joined the Lord on June 29, 2017. Syble was born on February 15, 1933 in Shelby County, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband; Earl Jernigan , a daughter; Donna Ready, and parents; John and Pearl Moore, brothers; Waymon, Allen and John Moore; sisters; Jeanette Raimond, Maxine Douzat, Dorothy Stuart and Claudia Miller.
She is survived by her daughters; Alicia (Rusty) Layton, Ramona (Lex) Koch, her son; Gary (Jenny) Ready, five grandchildren; Jeremy and Neosha Koch, Jarrod and Joseph Munden, and Jacob Ready, 10 great-grandchildren, sister; Verna Lou Snider and sister-in-law; Gloria Moore.
Syble will be laid to rest next to her beloved daughter Donna. Graveside services will be Monday, July 3, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Texas.

Charles Ronald Townes, 67, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on June 29, 2017 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on October 9, 1949 in Center, Texas to Emitt Dies Townes and Mary Lou Ivy Townes. Paul W. Harvey, 77, of The Grapevine Community of San Augustine, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, in Hemphill.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Little Flock Cemetery in San Augustine County with Bro. Don Moore officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mr. Harvey was born June 27, 1940, in Hemphill, to Columbia Harvey and Lennie Morris Harvey. He was a member of Bronson Masonic Lodge #893, Sharon Shrine in Tyler and Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church.

Dorothy Annette Mathews, 77, of Center, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Don Murphree and Bro. David Long officiating. Interment will follow at Joaquin Cemetery in Joaquin.
Mrs. Mathews was born September 7, 1939, in Avinger, to Boyd Starrett and Ruth Wilson Starrett. She retired as a manager from Bealls after 20 years of service. Mrs. Mathews enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her dachshund, Shotzie. She was a member of Jackson Missionary Baptist Church.

James (Jim) Emmett Scott, 78, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away peacefully June 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 28, 2017 at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday June 29, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Clute, Pastor Josh McGee officiating.
Jim was born October 10, 1938 in Timpson, Texas to Lizzie and Leroy Scott. Being raised on a farm, Jim learned at an early age to grow and nurture vegetables, especially tomatoes. Until his passing, he raised a beautiful garden and proudly shared his fresh vegetables with family, friends, and admirers who would frequently stop by.
Jim is a graduate of Timpson High School, Panola Junior College and Stephen F. Austin State University. Shortly after graduation, he entered the Air Force in November 1961. He was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas where he met the love of his life, Sharon. They were married January 26, 1968.
Jim & Sharon settled in Lake Jackson, where he worked at DOW for 30 years until his retirement in 1996. They have three children and seven grandchildren, and he enjoyed spending precious time with each of them. Jim was a loving father and grandfather who loved to fish and hunt. He spent countless weekends in the Texas Hill Country deer hunting with family and friends. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Clute for 50 years where he enjoyed being an usher and taking care of the church grounds. He had a passion for taking care of others and his selfless nature will never be forgotten.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Edward Scott and wife Elizabeth, Benny Mack Scott and wife Doris Faye, Bob Scott and wife Mary; Sister Oleta Weber; and brother-in-law Dallas Burgay.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Scott; two sons Mike Scott and wife d'Arcey, Mark Scott and wife Mary; daughter Melanie Helms; seven grandchildren, Colton and Kamryn Scott, Makenzie and Dawson Scott, Haley, Taylor and Hayden Helms; sister Estelle Burgay; two brother's-in-law James Weber, Jerry Beckham and wife Jeana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Scott, Mark Scott, Colton Scott, Dawson Scott, Hayden Helms, and Truman Bowles.
