Aaron Lee Richardson, 95 of Nacogdoches, passed away November 20, 2019. He was born July 14, 1924 to John and Bell McKnight Richardson.
Funeral service is Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 am Sid D. Roberts Chapel, 3535 S.E. Stallings Dr., Nacogdoches, TX with Rev. James A. Ervin Sr., Eulogist and Pastor Rogers Johnson, Officiating.
Visitations will begin on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sid Roberts Funeral Home, Nacogdoches, Tx.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Nacogdoches, Tx, under the directions of Sid Roberts Funeral Home.
He was a member of Richardson Chapel Church. His education was at Richard Chapel School and E.J. Campbell. He served in the Navy and worked as a driver over years for J.B. Hunt, the bus station, Lone Star, and retired from Weingarten. His hobbies included horses, tractors, farming, and motorcycles.

Annabell Burson, 83, of Huxley, passed away Wednesday on November 20, 2019 at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will immediate follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Watson & Sons Chapel with Tim Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery near Huxley.
Annabell was born August 16, 1936 in Seiling Oklahoma to Dodge M. Russell and Jennie E. Russell. After she graduated from high school, she attended nursing school and became a Registered Nurse (R.N.). While attending nursing school, she met Jack D. Burson and they were married on March 29, 1957. After becoming a R.N., Annabell served as a nurse in the Obstetric Departments in hospitals in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was a member of the Center Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Burson; son, Russell David Burson; parents, Dodge M. Russell and Jennie E. Russell; and brother Leonard Russell.
She is survived by two sisters, Betty Miller of Amarillo, Texas and Rosalee Cartwright of Morris, Illinois; brother, Oliver Earl Russell of Washington state; brother-in-law Byron Burson of College Station, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Beloved husband, father, brother, friend, coach, mentor and advisor, Rob Clifford passed away on November 16, 2019 after a courageously fought battle with renal carcinoma. Born on Christmas Day 1950 in Mexia, TX, Robert Leslie Clifford III, always known as Rob, grew up in Center, TX. Rob matured into an athlete and a scholar, being both Captain of the football team and in the National Honor Society. Athletic, he played on the golf, basketball and football teams. He also was feature editor of the school newspaper and played the lead part of “Curly” in “Oklahoma”! Charming, popular and handsome, he was voted “Mr. Center High School” in his senior year. He went to college at Texas Christian University, where he double-majored in Journalism and Education and graduated in 1973. While at TCU he was assistant editor of the school newspaper, a member of Sigma Delta Chi professional journalism society, and Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In his Junior year, he met his future wife Vicki while working a college job as a lifeguard at a summer camp. Both had the good sense to know a good thing when they saw it, and neither ever looked back. They were together for 48 years.
Rob was a stockbroker/investment advisor for over 35 years, retiring from Merrill Lynch in 2015. He leaves behind many grateful clients, quite a few of whom he served for 30+ years. His avocation, however, was coaching high school boys basketball. He coached basketball in the evenings and weekends for over 14 years. At the Austin Waldorf School in Austin, TX, he took the team to the state play-offs every year for eight seasons, including the Final Four in the 2010- 2011 season. His overall record there was 197 wins to 69 losses. After moving to Santa Fe, NM he coached basketball at the Santa Fe Waldorf School for six seasons, taking the team to the State Quarter Finals three of the six years. One of his greatest joys was staying in touch with former players and feeling that he had played a role in shaping them into becoming good men.
He was a good man, a family man. A present and involved father, his sons still groan over puns and jokes he would invent to amuse (torture!) them at the dinner table. He was a devoted husband who never, ever forgot to bring home dark chocolate on special occasions. Rob loved New Mexico and enjoyed playing golf, playing guitar and singing, traveling, following local high school sports, exploring the history and cultures of the area, socializing with friends, eating tons of green chile, and dog park adventures with his dog Quanah and all of his dog park buddies.
This brief obituary doesn’t begin to convey the essence of the man. He was kind, funny, generous, trustworthy, loving, loyal, smart and charming. He was an athlete, a whiz with numbers, a wordsmith and a musician. He was beloved by many, and we miss him terribly. He is survived by his wife Vicki of Santa Fe, NM, his son Greyson (and wife Morgan and grandson Waylon) of Breckenridge, CO, his son Daniel (and wife Jennifer and grandchildren Aman and Ruth) of Manitou Springs, CO, and his sister and brother-in-law Carol and David Turner of DeBerry, TX (and nephew Cliff Turner of St. Louis, MO and niece Leslie Turner of Austin,TX).

Danny Lamar “Big Daddy” Scarborough, 68, passed away November 19, 2019 in Tyler, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Rusty Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.
He was born November 22, 1950 in Center, Texas, to Jeff and Ruth Scarborough. He was a member and Deacon of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many many years. He loved the Lord and had a huge impact on the life of many through his teaching of the Bible and how he led by example in his day to day life. Danny was loved by all and was always known by everyone as “Big Daddy”. Big Daddy was very active in his children and grandchildren’s lives and attended as many of their functions as he could fit in whether it be sports to theatre events. He loved to fish, hunt, play 42, pitch washers and watch westerns. He will be missed by a multitude of friends and family that loved him, but we all rest easy in knowing he is resting in the arms of Jesus.

Kenneth McGough, Jr., 58 of Shelbyville, passed away November 16, 2019 after a long struggle with an illness.
He was born in El Dorado Arkansas on December 13, 1961. He was a truck driver for more than 25 years. He was a generous man with a big heart. He cared so much for close friends that he claimed them as family.

James Richard Shofner, 89 of Center, Texas, left this world on Monday, November 18, 2019, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born to Martin Lee and Bessie Flemings Shofner on December 21, 1929, in Center, Texas. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country for eight years in the United States Navy, where he completed a tour of duty during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, James promised the Lord if He would let him get back to the Piney Woods of East Texas he would never leave for long. It was a promise he kept short of a few brief vacations.
Upon his marriage to Rosa, he settled in Center to raise a family and run his machine shop building, tinkering and creating for many years. He was a Master Mason and was the Worshipful Master of Lodge 149. James was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Huxley, Texas, where he was a deacon for 58 years. Everyone who knew him knew of his faith and unending love for Jesus. He passed that love along not only to his family, but also to countless friends and strangers alike. We are certain that upon reaching the Pearly Gates he was met by a host of family and friends and welcomed with the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Services will be Thursday November 21, 2019 at Mangum Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with visitation Wednesday November 20, 2019 at Mangum Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Michael Wayne Breaux, 62, of Garrison, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Born January 13, 1957, in Houston, Texas to the late Clarence Joseph Breaux and Irene Marie (Abshire) Breaux. Michael was born Houston, Texas and raised Winnie, Texas. He graduated from East Chamber High School in Winnie, Texas. Michael later joined the United States Navy and served his country for over 4 years. While home on leave in Winnie Texas, Michael met the love of his life, Elizabeth Breaux and the two were married January 16, 1989, spending more than 30 years together before his passing. Michael was an employee of Arlam Water Supply. He enjoyed the outdoors, hog trapping, fishing, and hunting. He was an all around handyman. Michael enjoyed helping and serving others. Michael loved the Lord. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Breaux; sons, John Steven Mooney and wife Brandy Nichole; Patrick Joseph Breaux and wife Cara; Jacob Michael Breaux; daughters, Stephanie Renee Mooney, Alicia Lenea Noe; brother, Ronald D. Sam P. Hooper, JR., Ph.D. lost his life to cancer on November 11, 2019. He was 71. He was born in Nacogdoches and raised throughout Texas, completing his B.A. at Austin College and his doctorate at Baylor University. A clinical psychologist for over 40 years, Dr. Hooper worked first as a clinical psychologist in Midland and in later years taught graduate medical education at Texas Tech, UT Southwestern, and Christus GSMC.
A kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man of keen intellect and insight, he devoted his life to the relief of suffering. He loved cooking, was a voracious reader, and had a hilarious wit.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Sr., Drs. Edward and Melinda Wortz, wife Margaret Lee Chambers, and good friend George Jordan. He is survived and beloved by his family and family of friends: his wife of 25 years, Kathryn Wortz, his mother Mary Beth, his children Mary Margaret, Laura, Marissa, Melissa, Rachel, and Matthew; his grandchildren Alex, Barbara, and Maggie; as well as brother Mark, Terry, and S. Patrick. He is also survived by dear friends Jennifer O'Neil, Dr. Emmanuel Elueze, Alice and David White, Dr. Ivan Pawlowicz, Tammy Mitchell, Justino Lopez, Dr. Loui Gatdula, Dr. Tiffany Egbe, Dr. James L. May, and many other fine associates.
A celebration of life service is planned near his home in Mineola after the Thanksgiving Holiday. His ashes will be interred at Byodo-In Temple, Kaneohe, Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the East Texas Food Bank. God's peace be with you always.

Richard Don Wheeler, 87, of Ojai died Wednesday, November 6, 2019 of cancer.
Mr. Wheeler was born January 19, 1932 in Center, Texas and had lived in Ojai 48 years.
A Korean War Veteran, after graduating with an engineering degree in electronics he went to work for the Department of Defense Navy Civil Service. He retired as a senior electronic engineer, receiving the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for improving the fleet's capabilities in electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM), the Navy's third highest honorary award. He was an active member of the Ojai Valley Baptist Church, enjoyed senior softball and doing yard work. He loved to invest his time in his grandchildren and was very proud of them.
He was preceded in death by his father Don Wheeler; mother Barksdale Crenshaw; Step-father Brian Crenshaw; sister Juanice Powell; brother Gilbert Wheeler; and wife Barbara Wheeler.

Peggy Ann (Miller) Lawson, 94, of Shelbyville, Texas passed away on November 9, 2019 in Texas City, Texas. Born July 24, 1925, in Hertfordshire, England, Peggy is the daughter of the late Frederick Miller and Lucy (Brett) Miller. Graveside service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2 PM at Liberty Hill Cemetery, San Augustine, Texas with Bro. Ronnie Wheeler officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 12:30 – 1:30 PM at Mangum Funeral Home.
Peggy was born and raised in Hertfordshire, England. She met the love of her life, Jasper McShan, while he was serving in the United States military. Peggy decided to move to the United States to join him and the two were married shortly after. They spent many years together before his passing in 1981. She later met her soulmate, John Lawson, and the two were married in Patroon on May 16, 1982. The two enjoyed fulfilling life together until his passing in 2006. Peggy worked for Deep East Texas Electric Co-op, retiring with more than 32 years of service. Peggy enjoyed gardening, walking her dog, and especially working in her flower gardens. She was a devoted member of Patroon Baptist Church while her health permitted. She loved the Lord and served as church treasurer for many years. Peggy touched many lives through the years.

Scotty Baldwin, 46, of Center, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Rusty Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Scotty was born March 19, 1973, in Center, to Mike and Joan Baldwin. He was one of a kind. Scotty loved to make people smile and would give you the shirt off his back. He was the most loyal, big-hearted friend to everyone he met. Growing up, you would find Scotty either at the cow lot, roping pen, or chicken houses. He always wanted to follow in his daddy’s footsteps. His greatest passion was steer wrestling with his daddy right beside him as his hazer. His daddy was his hero. Most knew Scotty as “Hollywood” when he was a truck driver. He married the love of his life, Pam, and they had two beautiful daughters, Alli Jo and Savannah. After Pam passed away, it was just him and Alli. She was his everything. He later married Carrie and found love again he thought he never would find. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Jo Anne Russell, 61, of Huntington, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019, in Lufkin.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Danny Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Mrs. Russell was born March 8, 1958, in Houston, to Elzie Ray Barlow and Marvlet Galloway Barlow. She was employed as a nurse. She enjoyed gardening and caring for people, especially her grandbaby. Mrs. Russel was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Lufkin.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Russell of Huntington; daughter, Heather Russell of Lufkin; grandson, Brylan Chase and his father Larry Chase of Lufkin; mother, Marvlet Barlow of Center; sisters, Connie Mora of Center, Cheryl Denny and husband Jerry of Citronelle, Alabama, and Kathy Grayson and husband Johnny of Center; mother-in-law, Weida Lowery of Center; brother-in-law, Jerry Russell of Center; and nephew, Kurt Russell of Longview; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Elzie Ray Barlow; and brother-in-law, Greg Mora.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Grayson, Christopher Mora, Jerry Denney, Bill Anderson, and Gregory Baker.

Steve Boyd, 73, of Joaquin, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019, in Nacogdoches.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Keith Keele officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Steve was born on August 26, 1946 in Logansport, Louisiana to David (D.B.) and Maurine Farmer Boyd. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He was raised in the Bethel Community in Logansport and loved traipsing over the property hunting and fishing the ponds around there.
Survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Boyd of Center, Texas.

Waymon Edward Armstreet, 82, 82, of Houston, Texas passed away on November 7, 2019 in Houston, Texas. Born December 22, 1936, in Shelby County, Texas, Waymon is the son of the late William Wayne Armstreet and Shelby Exa (Risinger) Armstreet. Graveside service will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2PM at Duncan Cemetery, Shelbyville, Texas.
Visitation will be held prior to the graveside service from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Mangum Funeral Home.
Waymon graduated from Strong School in Shelby County. He was a loving father, and enjoyed spending time with and taking care of his son, John, until his passing in 2015. Waymon worked in Houston, Texas as a dedicated fireman. Later in his career he bacame Fire Chief at Houston’s Station 19. When he was not working you could find him fishing on the Guadalupe with his nephew, Lynn, and some of his coworkers from his station.

Solon (Wayne) Ponder, 93, of Joaquin, Texas passed away on November 7, 2019 in Center, Texas. He was born February 5, 1926, in Ewing, Illiois, to Solon and Fleta Ponder.

Services will be Tuesday November 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Mangum Funeral Home with Visitation Monday November 11, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Benton, Illinois.
Mr. Ponder is preceded in death by his Wife of 69 years, Betty Evelyn Ponder and Son Michael Wayne Ponder.

Lenora Mills of Gary, Texas, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at UT Medical Center in Carthage, Texas.
Mrs. Mills was born January 3, 1948, in San Augustine County, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Panola County, Texas. She was a member of Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Thad Roy Mills of Gary, Texas; daughter, Deidra Swift of Evadale, Texas; daughter, Celeste Lewis and husband Harold of Joaquin, Texas; a son, Timothy Mills and wife Stephanie of Elysian Fields, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymon and Ercelle Lakey; and a granddaughter, Brandi Mills.
Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, San Augustine, with interment following at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden. Officiating will be Bro. Levi Corhorst, pastor of Timpson Missionary Baptist Church.
