Vernon "Skeeter" Dixon, age 67, a longtime resident of the Broaddus, Texas, area, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Hospice in the Pines in Lufkin, Texas.
Skeeter was born Aug. 7, 1953, in Silsbee, Texas, to parents R.E. "Bronk" Dixon and Mary Ellen (Hickman) Dixon and had been a lifelong resident of the Broaddus area. He was a 1971 graduate of Broaddus High School and a self-employed water well driller, having been the youngest registered driller in the State of Texas. He was a member of Harvey Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
His survivors include his wife, Wanda Vann Dixon of Broaddus, Texas; children, Cecilia Dixon of Lufkin, Texas, Laura Dixon of Montgomery, Texas, Jeffery Dixon of Crockett, Texas, Jimi Davis of Katy, Texas, and Maria Bush of Patroon, Texas; brother, Joe Dixon of San Augustine, Texas; a sister, Elizabeth Dixon of Lufkin, Texas; and his grandchildren, Bryce Davis, Addison Sabari, Aidan Wood, McKayla McCoy, and Madylon McCoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.E. "Bronk" and Mary Ellen Dixon.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Hugh Mixon officiating. Interment will follow at Runnels Cemetery near Broaddus, Texas.

Raymond L. Graves, Jr, 29, was born on June 21, 1991 and he passed away on March 6, 2021 in Orchard, Texas in a car accident. Ray Jr. was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Raymond graduated from Tenaha High school in May 2009.
He was everybody’s friend, made us laugh, smile and cry. He worked for his Uncle Ray’s construction company and was very dependable, smart and loyal.
He was always so polite, considerate of others and he never met a stranger he wouldn’t help.

Conway Hunter “Bubba” Mallory III, 61, of Center, Texas, passed away on November 23, 2020 in Center, Texas. He was born September 12, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee and is the son of the late Dr. Conway Hunter Mallory Jr. and Joann Howell Mallory.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center.
Bubba attended and graduated Center High School. After graduation he attended Tyler Junior College. He worked for Dunhal Pharmaceutical Dental Division for several years in East Texas and western Louisiana. He worked in Houston before moving back to work for George Ihlo as a brick laborer, worked for his brother-in-law hanging wall paper, electrical work for East Texas Poultry Supply, and worked for Midwest Fiberoptics and also in the natural gas field. For the past few years he has been self-employed. Bubba thought he could fix anything, but it didn’t always work out. Bubba was a big hearted and very generous man when he could be. His health has taken a toll on him the last few years.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Billy Ihlo and Mark Twain Livingston for being his best friends through it all.

Susan Diane (Savitsky) McCann, 72, of Joaquin, Texas passed away on March 6, 2021, in Houston, Texas. She was born on February 28, 1949 in Houston, Texas to William Kazimir Savitsky and Willie Mae (Ray) Savitsky.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel in Center, TX with Bro. Jody Hooper and Bro. Eugene Bowden officiating. Susan was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her father served in the military which allowed her to travel frequently. She spoke highly of the time she spent in Guam and on the island of Truk. She graduated from Sam Houston High School. Susan was a black belt Jiu Jitsu member. She obtained this while overseas. Susan met the love of her life, James Dale McCann, while attending a dance hall competition. The two fell in love and continued entering dance competitions bringing home numerous awards throughout the years. She also enjoyed bowling with Dale. They were part of a bowling league and met many friends throughout the years. Susan’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She attended every activity her grandchildren participated in. From ballgames to cheer, and theatre to rodeo, no matter what it was she was their greatest supporter. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the casino. She attended Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

Rhonda Renee Rogers, 59, of Timpson, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021 in Timpson, Texas. She was born on June 9, 1961 in Palacios, Texas, to the late Earl Rogers and Hazel (Kingsley) Phillips. Upon Rhonda’s request a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Rhonda grew up in Palacios, Texas. She enjoyed being a ranch hand working with cattle. She moved to Timpson to work cattle on a ranch locally. Rhonda never had any children of her own but has assisted in raising many. Many knew her as the “cool” aunt. She loved spending time with family and friends. Those that knew Rhonda knew she brought light in the atmosphere. Her smiling face, upbeat personality, and caring heart is just a few attributes. She never met a stranger, always wanting to brighten someone’s day. Rhonda loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them as well. She always welcomed friends and family and the opportunity to spend time outdoors and BBQ.

George Allen Parrott, 94, of Cypress, formerly of the Folsom Chapel Community, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021, in Cypress.
Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with Rev. Darwin Parrott officiating. Visitation will be held prior, beginning at Noon.
Born August 27, 1926, in Wells, George is the son of the late Leonard Darwin (LD) Parrott and Nora Diamond Nail Parrott of Center. Immediately upon graduation from Center High School Class of 1944, George voluntarily enlisted for service to his country, serving in the United States Navy during WWII in the Philippines, Iwo Jima and Okinawa stationed aboard USS LSM327. Honorably discharged at the rank of Yeoman 3rd Class he was awarded the American Defense and Pacific Theater ribbons. George went on to make a 40-year career at Shell Chemical in Deer Park while raising a family in Pasadena. Following retirement he moved to the Folsom Chapel Community, where he and his beloved wife Christene lived for 25 years. His last 10 years were spent with his son and family in Cypress.
Preceded in death by parents, Leonard Darwin Parrott and Nora Diamond Parrott; brother, James Leonard Parrott; and wife, Christene Parker Parrott.
He is survived by:

Grandchildren, Travis and Lauren Parrott.

Great-grandchildren, Matthew Harden and Alice Harden.
Pallbearers will be Barry Brunson, Gregg Parker, Mark Ivey, Scott Ivey, Travis Parrott and Allen Parrott. Honorary pallbearers will be and Marcel Montferrand and Mark Harden.

Cynthia Ann (Ramsey) Hutchins, 74, of Timpson, Texas, passed away peacefully into the hands of her Lord on Friday, February 26, 2021 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Cynthia was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on October 16, 1946 to the late Arron Ramsey and Eugenia (Malcolm) Ramsey. She moved to Conroe, Texas when she was 13 where she attended Conroe High School and met and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Hutchins. The two remained faithfully by each other’s side for over 55 years before her passing. Cynthia enjoyed cooking, gardening, and most of all spending time with her family.

James Allen Hammer, of Garrison, Texas passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, surrounded by loved ones in Garrison, Texas. He was born on January 23, 1941, in Houston , Texas to the late Calvin Hammer and Nellie Mozelle (Thornton) Hammer. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Garrison, Texas with Bro. Clint Williams and Bro. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Cemetery, Fm 2667, Timpson, Texas.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 AM at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Garrison.
James was born in Houston, Texas. He graduated Smiley High School, Houston, Texas. He went to police cadet school following graduation. James joined the Houston Police Department and spent over 20 years with them before retiring. He met the love of his life, Helen Hancock, thorough Helen’s cousin, Darrell Lunsford, and the two were married on April 11, 1964. The two have spent over 57 wonderful years together before his passing.
As James protected the citizens in Houston he had multiple opportunities to work security at the Astrodome and escort prominent people such as, Elvis Presley, and numerous important officials from other countries as well as the United States. James was a hard working individual. Those that knew James knew he could serve as an electrician, plumber, and fix just about anything. He enjoyed working on his tractor and spending time outdoors.
James immensely loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, cheering them on every opportunity he could. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved the Lord and served him through throughout his life. James was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, Garrison, Texas.
