September 9, 2019 - The Center Varsity tennis team continues to roll with two more wins this weekend.

The Roughriders met Hallsville in Jacksonville this past Saturday morning and then lined up against Jacksonville for the afternoon.

The results are as follows:

Center would lead 5 wins -2 losses after doubles vs Hallsville which gave us a nice lead going into singles. Center takes 6 of the first 8 singles matches to lead 11-4 and take home the victory before pulling the remaining singles matches.

After a much needed lunch break out of the heat, Jacksonville HS was next. The Riders continued the trend from the morning and led 5-2 after doubles.

Singles would prove to be a heated contest and Jacksonville put up a great effort to try to pull back within striking distance by splitting the first 8 singles matches 4-4 which gave the Riders a team total of 9-6, but the Center team had too much depth and pulled 3 of the remaining 4 singles to make the official victory 12-7.

This gives our Center team a 6-0 record with four of those wins vs class 5A.

Upcoming:

Center JV vs Spring Hill at home Tuesday 9/10
Center V vs Spring Hill at Spring Hill Thursday 9/12
Both matches are set to begin approximately 4pm.

Go Roughriders!!!

This cut the Bulldogs lead to 34-21 with 6:49 left in the game. Disaster struck the ‘Riders moments later when Black raced 101 yards on an electrifying kickoff returned for a touchdown which gave Jefferson a 41-21 advantage.

Horace added a 3-yard score for Center with 5:22 left in the game to pull Center to within 41-28 but Jefferson’s Kylan Thomas scampered 43-yards on the first play from scrimmage to extend the Bulldog’s lead to 48-28 with 5 minutes left in the contest.
