Nacogdoches High School Gymnasium, Tuesday, February 12, 2019 -

The Center Lady Roughriders Varsity Basketball Team fell to the Rusk Lady Eagles by a 35-30 score. The game was a Bi-District playoff played at Nacogdoches High School's Dragons Gymnasium, a neutral site, to determine the winner between District 19 and 20 Class 4A schools.

Four points during the first period, by Lady ‘Riders postman JaKayla Parks, helped Center take a 10-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Parks had twelve points by halftime which helped CHS carry a 20-19 advantage into the locker room at the midway break. She led the Roughriders by scoring a game-high 19 points for the day.

Kenyada Kincade hit two 3-point shots which helped Rusk overtake Center and led 29-24 going into the fourth quarter. Center and Rusk each scored six points during the fourth period which proved to be a frantic defensive battle.

Junior point guard RaNaiya Kennedy led the Lady Eagles with 14 points.

Center’s season ends with the team posting a 19-14 record. They were 4-4 in District 20 4A action.

February 12, 2019 - All Set!!! The Lady Tigers are set for the Area Round of the Playoffs. Tenaha will take on Broaddus in Cushing on Thursday, February 14 at 7pm. The Lady Tigers will be the Home Team. Let's get there and help give our gals an Area Win on Valentine's Day!!

February 12, 2019 - Shelbyville Lady Dragons are the Bi-District Champions after defeating Cushing 46-38!

The Lady Dragons will play Thursday, February 14 at 6:00 pm versus Hull-Daisetta at Jasper High School. District Passes, Coaches Passes and Senior Citizen Passes will be accepted. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Dragons will be the visitors.

February 11, 2019 - The Shelbyville Dragon baseball team will host Beckville on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 with a 5pm game time. To see the full 2019 Baseball Schedule, click here.

February 11, 2019 - The Shelbyville boys will be playing in the East Texas Playoff Preview in Tenaha on Friday, February 15th versus East Chambers High School. Game time is 5:30 pm.

 

Tenaha Special Events Center, Friday, February 8, 2019 –

The Tenaha Tigers Varsity Boys Basketball Team took a 63-44 win over the visiting Garrison Bulldogs on Friday. This moved the Tiger’s District 22 Class 2A record to 8-3 and they stand at 9-5 overall for the season.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 17-0 lead and they led 19-2 at the conclusion of the first quarter. At the halftime intermission the Tigers held a 36-18 advantage. The Tigers never trailed and led 45-23 at the end of three quarters on the way to the 63-44 win.

Tenaha was led by JaQualin Franks with 17 points.  Teammate Jay Lloyd had ten points. Garrison was led by JaKadric Watts who had a 14 point night.

The Tigers will travel to Woden on Tuesday, January 12, 2019 for a 6:30 p.m. game with the Eagles. This will be Tenaha’s final conference game of the season.

February 8, 2019 - The following scrimmages today (February 8) have been cancelled. They will not be rescheduled: Baseball vs Kirbyville and Softball vs Marshall.

 

Tenaha ISD Administration Building, Wednesday, February 6, 2019 -

On Wednesday Tenaha Independent School District hosted a college Letter of Intent signing where student-athlete Jay Lloyd signed with Trinity Valley Community College of Athens Texas. Superintendent Scott Tyner kicked off the ceremonies and spoke of fond memories he had while attending TVCC where he gained an associate’s degree before moving on to Oklahoma State University to further his education. Tyner stated, “Community College football at Trinity Valley Community College is highly competitive and it is an opportunity to develop skills to move on to bigger things.”

The signing took place at the Tenaha Tiger’s Den in the school’s Administration Building with a crowd of about 70 people made up of Faculty, friends, family and press attending.

Lloyd will be pursuing a business degree. He said, “I chose TVCC because when I went on a visit they made it feel like home. I also have a friend Trai Gardner there.”

Loyd will be looked at to help the TVCC Cardinals as a defensive back. The team went 4-5 last year overall and held a 3-4 conference mark.

February 5, 2019 - Shelbyville Basketball varsity teams play February 5th at Tenaha. Varsity girls game is at 6pm and varsity boys to follow.

February 4, 2019 - (Team Totals/Brackets) - CHS take 2nd Overall in team points to start the spring tennis season.  Jacksonville hosted 12 Varsity tennis teams and the highlights/results are as follows:

Individual results:
Girls finished in the top 4 in 6 different brackets they participated in. Highlighted by a 1st place finish in Mixed B Dbls (Emilee Elliott/Lance Holloway) and a 2nd place finish in Girls A Dbls (Katie Nehring/Maddie Russell) 

Boys finished in the top 4 in 5 different brackets highlighted by 3rd place in Mixed A (Alec Dykes/CarolineScull), 3rd in Boys B Dbls (Jack Watlington/Collin Jones), as well as 3rd in Boys B Singles (Ian Williams).

Riders back in action next Friday to compete in the 16 school event hosted by Kilgore.
