April 22, 2022 - The Center Lions Club Golf Tournament held Monday, April 11 at the Center Country Club had 8 teams competing and helping to raising money for the community.

The event is all about having fun. We have some unusual holes. There is one hole that you hit the ball out of a swimming pool. One hole called the Flamingo where you hit your first shot standing on one leg. Another hole where your first shot is with a giant sling shot. We also throw in several other gimmicks. Coming in first is not always best, prizes are given for 2nd, 4th and last place.

Winners / Losers were 1st place team Farm Bureau; 2nd place team Shelby Savings Bank 2; 4th place team Steel Building Supply; and 8th place team Farmers State Bank.

We have a great time and the Center Noon Lions are extremely thankful for our corporate sponsors; Farmers State Bank, High Roller Group, Shelby Savings Bank, and Tyson. This event could not happen without their support and the support of the many hole sponsors and golfers who participate. There are many others to thank, but too numerous to mention here.

All the money our club raises goes back into our local community with the exception of the barbecued/grilled chicken luncheon which is coming up on May 12th. All proceeds from that event will go towards the Texas Lions Camp, in Kerrville, Texas, if you are ever passing through, stop in and check it out. It is an amazing place. Thank you for the generosity of Shelby County folks and may God bless you all.

State qualifiers with their Region 3 medals

April 21, 2022 - Five Center High School seniors are headed to the UIL 4A Tennis Tournament to be held in San Antonio on Tuesday, April 26 at Annemarie Tennis Center.

Their Journey to State

Ian Williams was the #1 seed in the Region 3 boys singles tournament and held true to his placement by finishing in 1st place. His toughest match was in the finals versus Lake Belton where Ian had a slow start and dropped the first set but regrouped and finished strong taking the next two sets. Ian will face a Region 2 opponent from Lindale in the State quarterfinals at approximately 9:15am.

Levi Rodriguez and Lance Holloway were the #4 seed in the Region 3 boys doubles tournament and pulled some exciting wins versus China Spring in the semifinal and Lake Belton in the finals. Both matches went to deciding 3rd sets and both matches would go the Riders way to finish in 1st place. Levi and Lance will face a Region 4 opponent from Wimberley in the State quarterfinals at approximately 9:15am.

Emilee Elliott and Sarah Scull were the #2 seed in the Region 3 girls doubles tournament and would hold true to their placement by finishing 2nd and qualifying for State. Their second day at Regionals started with a hard fought win over China Spring in the semifinals followed by a loss to the #1 seed Bellville team in the finals. That did not secure a 2nd place, and the girls had to face an excited team from Burnet who would get a playback chance. The match would last nearly 2 1/2 hours and also like the boys doubles, would go to a deciding 3rd set where the Center girls would prevail. Emilee and Sarah will face a Region 2 opponent from Wills Point in the State quarterfinals at approximately 10:30am.

Go Riders!!!!!

All 5 of these seniors had to face many challenges over the 2 days in Bryan as well as having to pull out hard fought deciding 3rd sets in all of their final matches of the day.

The parents, team members, faculty and community supporters pulled for them every step of the way and it showed. Thank you!

Congratulations to the following:
