April 15, 2026 - Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., issued a statewide CALL OUT for Veterans to contact the Texas General Land Office(GLO) to share their unique stories of service with the VLB through the GLO's Voices of Veterans Oral History Program.

February 6, 2026 — Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is proud to announce that the VLB has approved an increase for the VLB standard land loan amount from $150,000 to $200,000 and the dual-spouse land loan amount from $225,000 to $275,000, effective Monday, February 9, 2026.

November 20, 2025 — Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced that the VLB has submitted a grant application to the National Cemetery Administration (NCA) of the U.S. Veterans Administration (VA) to build the East Texas State Veterans Cemetery (SVC). This project is now #16 on the National Priority list.

August 30, 2025 — On August 28, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced that the City of South Padre completed construction, funded in part by the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) Coastal Management Program (CMP), to improve accessibility at Neptune Circle, Beach Access #16 located on Gulf Boulevard between East Saturn Lane and East Venus Lane. The improved beach access point is once again open to the public.

March 27, 2025 - Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced that construction of the new Rollover Pass Pier has begun.  The Rollover Pass Project is one of the Texas General Land Office's (GLO) major coastal preservation efforts.
